I believe the STP sponsorship for Patrick racing in 1974 was only for the 500 mile races. At Trenton the colors were blue with gold lightning bolts.

You are correct on the photo. I kind of felt bad for Sospiri. He was a F3000 champ in 95, but then moved up to F1 with perhaps the worst car in recent history - the MasterCard Lola.
I liked having Danny in the booth. However, for me the CART/CCWS driver turned commentator that I miss the most is Parker Johnstone. I thought he did a great job of explaining the technical and engineering side of racing. He could put it in terms that an "average" person could understand, yet not sound like he's talking to a preschooler.

Sospiri ended up with a dog in CART also. But in all due fairness the Toyota was the dog powerplant. I believe the Eagle would have scored better if it had a Honda in it.
I agree with you on Parker Johnstone wish he was back at least CC announcers are sightly better than IRL announcers but both series are junk.

What gave it away was the words Olsonite Eagle on the below the wind screen. Grants car was Mystery Eagle at Indy and Olsonite at Ontario.

I have to object to this answer, it is not 1975. If you look there are no wings, the Mallard ran with Miller sponsorship via distributor Dick Hammond (NY) from 1971-1975. The Mallard sprouted wings in 1972 (ran at Michigan).
Thus it is 1971.

Right Car and Track.
Keep Digging.
I remember seeing this car at the first race my father took me to. Big difference from the kit cars of today as eveyone had their own idea for speed back then.

I was hoping that someone would guess the driver also. That car sure looks small compared to today's cars.

I will guess on a fact by saying it was one of the first cars at Indy to run a wing.

For the record - that was the Lotus of Jim Clark.....
as for the current picture I am gonna guess Lee Brayton at Indy in 1973 in an Eagle-Offy that was very recently pruchased from PAt Patrick

That's Lee Brayton in an Eagle-Offy 1974 @ Michigan, and the fun fact about the car is that not only was it purchased from Pat Patrick, it is Gordon Johncock's 1973 Indy 500 winning car. If you say you've seen the car in the Indy museum, you're wrong. The museum only has a replica, and it's actually a '74 ,model Eagle.

Correct Driver, and Car.
Wrong Year and Track. :(
:) :) :) For the bonus info. Gordon Johncock drove a 1972 Eagle to a sad victory at Indy 1973. Lee Brayton still owns the car as far as I know.
Keep Digging on the last two items.

I have a black and white photo of the Lotus at Milwaukee that year. I believe Dan Gurney drove a white Lotus for that race.

Nice photo of Al Unser Jr. and Rick Mears 1978 Penske PC-6 at Michigan. Do you have a larger copy of that photo?

Nope not Phoenix. :D
Hint: It's the same size as Phoenix and part of it was used to help design Pocono. ;)
