"Researchers have demonstrated a striking method to reconstruct words, based on the brain waves of patients thinking of those words.

The technique reported in PLoS Biology relies on gathering electrical signals directly from patients' brains.

Based on signals from listening patients, a computer model was used to reconstruct the sounds of words that patients were thinking of.

I heard the actual sounds on the radio, extraordinary stuff. At the moment they are reconstructing words the patient has heard, it's hoped they will be able to use it to process words they are merely thinking. However they are saying any sort of portable device to do this is probably a few decades off.

I bet Apple will make a nice app for this. Put your iPhone on your head and they'll always know what you think. Who needs privacy?
