As reported on Autosport.com, Tom Cotter, formerly of the Cotter Group, has been appointed president of the race promoting company for the Grand Prix to be held in New Jersey next year. To me this is great news, to others, you may be saying "Tom who?", so heres a little background. Tom Cotter originally worked in marketing and promotions for a NASCAR sponsor (Country Time) in the 1980s and set up his own PR & Marketing company in 1989. He was a pioneer in unlocking the potential of sponsorship in NASCAR, he is a visionary promotions guy and exactly the sort of person needed to make the Grand Prix in New Jersey a success.
For more on Tom Cotter read "The 200mph Billboard", a great book on how corporate america embraced NASCAR.
