I'm sure I'm not the only one to be saddened by the news of the death of Monkey World founder Jim Cronin.

"Jim Cronin passed away on March 17, 2007 at Cabrini Medical Center in Manhattan."

Whilst his work was not as highly publicised as Steve Irwins, he made a significant contribution to primate care across the world.

The world is a poorer place for his loss.

He was a friend of a friend and, much as monkies freak me out, learning about his work made me put my hand in my pocket a time or two.
