What does everyone think of David Ragan's performences so far? Personally since Daytona he's been nothing special and I defonatly think he's been brought into Cup way too soon, same for David Gilliland really.

I think Roush should have given Mark Martin the part time deal with Ragan that Ginn gave him with Smith. That being said, I think Ragan's doing just fine for a rookie. The Ford's are struggling but Ragan's 3rd of 5 Roush cars. He's higher in the points than half the field which on average are 15 years older and have 7 seasons more experience.

If I am not mistaken Ragan is leading all the rookies in points.

Nope, it's JPM per Jayski:

#84-A.J. Allmendinger, 4, 0, 4

he hasn't wadded the car up every week so he's doing better than i expected. thought he would run a whole lot better than 33rd at Atlanta. he's certainly no Mark Martin but the 6 has always been a rocket at Atlanta. he was nowhere near the pace that car has produced there. Bristol should be a huge learning experience for him. he'll be good for more than one caution.

Martinsville is going to be a nightmare if last year is anything to go by. I believe Ragan got banned from driving on 1.5 mile ovals after his performence there last year.

He was held out of Atlanta and Texas last fall by Nascar.

Ragan was leading the ROTY points through the first three races. JPM's top ten at Atlanta jumped him ahead because of the extra bonus points...otherwise JPM had been a dog in Cup up until that point.

It's the same points Ragan got for his 5th at Daytona. Finishing your first four races in today's competitive Cup series (with nothing worse than 26th) is hardly being a dog.

I guess it depends on how you twist it. I'm not knocking him, but he's not setting the world on fire as promised by some members on this board. Obviously the jury's still out since it's still early in the season, but finishing 1/2 your races more than a lap down isn't going to get you wins either. And until the 5th in Atlanta, he had a 19th, 26th and 22nd...and that's just mid-pack.
