I am not going to hold my breath on this one, but Obama's space program, is at least as good as Bush's was, which was not much, but one can hope.

I'm confused. SpaceX is a private company, so Bush, and Obama, have nothing to do, with, this.
Personally I want to see something that's totally reusable, which means it will need to be air-launched. Don't know if Richard Branson's going to make it work, though.

Will be an interesting one to watch! Why am I not bowled over by the pictures? :)
I remember seeing on TV a programme about private space flight, the pilot threw some MnM's into zero gravity to show he was in space :)

Arrrh, look up on what Obama has said about the space program.
Cutting Fed. programs, which he has done, to put it into the hands of private enterprise is one of his goals, plus look-up how any private enterprise still has to work with the government.

Sounds like Obama is bending to the will of the GOP more & more every day.

Americans are a funny lot. We cry for budget cuts... then whine when budgets are cut. All Americans want to eat steak, but so few believe that their sacred cows should donate a cut of meat. Now that is truly
Anyway, it's not as if anyone has called for the cancellation of the space program (yet another example of baseless hyperbole from the radical right). And there is no reason why parts of it cannot be, or should not be, privatized.
If "free market solutions" are right for every other area of our lives (as the faux fiscal conservatives often claim), then why not here? And to be honest, I have as much faith in programs like SpaceX (http://www.spacex.com/) as I do in big budget NASA in some areas.
