Amazingly, my eldest son has just finished his first year of school, so I'm posting this thread to see if anyone out there is feeling nostalgic for their school days.

Funny stories, school memories...post them here.

My eldest daughter finsished grade 1 in June (top marks too :) ).

Me, I can't remember grade 1 :dozey: .

I do remember my uni days. It was tough, having to study 7 days a week, sometimes even during the summer months, just to keep up with the curricula. I was pretty frazzled towards the end of the 4 years and kept thinking to myself that this torture would soon be over and I could get a nice 9-to-5 job and take it easy. Now I sometimes wish I was back in uni :dozey: .

School... no nostalgia really, wouldn't go back. But uni - send me back there tomorrow - doesn't get better than that.

No, never liked school really. Like most I looked forward to leaving but unlike most I don't remember it fondly. Going to 6th form college was a revelation for me, being in a class where everyone there actually wanted to be there was an unknown concept for me.

Uni was great too, but mostly hard work rather than partying!

I miss College and Uni more than school... I only really enjoyed it when I reached 6th Form and had a really good crowd of friends around me. I'd go back to my uni days in a jot... Loved it.

I HATED my school, hated my math teacher, and unfortunately got him for grades 6th to 8th. Jackass was the best math teacher available at my school presumably, but actually was the worst ever. Uni is associated with a lot of crazy stuff, then a LOT of studying to make up for all that, and looong travels.

Fondest memory of school is this specific female teacher who used to teach English and social science. :D

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the major reason I hated my school was because it was a Catholic boys school...

So we are blowing the whole 'School? Best days of your life' theory out of the window here! ;)

I, like most above, didn't much enjoy school - it was just the place I had to be 8 hours a day when I would have far rather been down the Kart track.

I did get a lot of good friends outta those days though...

I loved school, best days of my life easily. When in life do you have so little responsibility and so much time? Never again. Of course you have to mix with the right crowds to get the best fun out of life, but once you have that, I fail to see any reason why school shouldn`t be awesome time

Well it would also depend heavily on what country and school system you grew up in.

Wasn't a big fan of primary school. High School was amazing and University thus far is also fantastic.

I think both school and uni have the same grade of responsibility if we take it properly, student at uni usually have bigger responsibility while at school sometimes we ditch the class for party and fun more than it should. I still remember in a party a shy boy was asked to put a ring on someone finger and she did the same to me and walked trough all friends hand in hand.. Not trying to unfold old memory, there were a lot of other memories left though..

Both school and uni were fine, those good friends and teachers you met there are nicest persons sent to your life.. There might be some names meaningful a thing to remember we can use it to name someone, your nieces or whoever.. :)

Yes, I too enjoy my friends and my school days. We will be in time for school, but never in time to go home. I love my school days, I never really forget my school days, all my friends and teachers.

At high school and university life was miserable. But first years of school were great and my best friends are from that period.

I had a teacher in the first 4 classes who was *sensible* at presents ( this is an euphemism for bribe ). She used an ingenious system to detect who brought something and what. I mean there were certain events ( March 1st, Woman's Day, her birthday, her name day, etc. ) when everybody in the class brought something. Being innocent kids we all crowded to her desk offering our gifts and she couldn't notice properly everyone's contribution. So 5 minutes before the class started she used to send other teacher who was like: Children, let's make a surprise to comrade Secanu. Ask her to read the class catalogue. We were thrilled about this plot so when 'comrade' entered we asked her. She mimed surprise ( But why?) but I still see her smile. Then it started: Andrei C !. And C brought the present and the teacher was again surprised: What? You shouldn't... Then again: Arcus C ! Other present and so on.
On one occasion my mother refused to buy a present because a few days before the comrade asked her to bring some meat ( I know it sounds ridiculous but the times were hard ). When the teacher called my name I just stood up and said "present". I still hear the mumbles of my colleagues who commented " she brought nothing ".

I always remember with my friends the Secanu's plot.
And I remember all the kids in my class with their nicknames, their cliches, good or bad parts.

As latins say: O tempora, o mores.......
