We've been doing some equipment testing in a warehouse and the only radio we have is the one in the company car, today's was a Audi A6, one with the BMW rip-off dial control in the centre console that can change the color of the bleeding wind screen wiprs if necessary.

So, the radio kept shutting down every ten minutes and had to be turned on. Is there a way to keep the damn thing in operation, or do we need to start booking the Ford Mondieu?

I'd guess starting the engine could help. May also help in that you won't have a dead battery when the day is done.

keeping the engine running in a closed warehouse would lead to dead engineers. :D

You can keep a car radio on for quite a while before it begins to kill the battery.

Got an Audi but I never sit in the car for 10m minutes after turning off the engine, more like gone in 60 seconds.
And BTW I find it is good that it turns of the radio after 10 minutes on its own.

On my Kenwood stereo there's a menu option buried away for auto power off after 20/40/60 minutes.

It's a safety feature. Radio might not take much but if you're playing CD's and / or pumping out sound through the speakers, then you go on holiday for a week, that's going to kill your battery!

In most cars anyway the auto-off feature only functions when the ignition isn't on.

Case seems to be closed, some WAG-owners on a cycling forum said it's a built in feature that can't be turned off.
