Risky. Five years is a long contract and he hasn't really been the shining light this in their driver lineup this year.

Ferrari must give him a very competitive car...he will do the rest :p :

The guy has a great talent and apart from Vettel, I don't see anyone whos better...he will be back at his best very soon.

Hamilton? Trulli? :bomb:
Still, I just think a contract that expires in six years is a big risk.
The talent pool now will not be the same talent pool in 5 years' time.

He's pi55ed off a lot of other teams one way or another, so who else would have/deserve him? ;)
He's still young, and Ferrari while not always winning are always thereabouts, so there's no reason why he can't do this season and five more yet.
what the TECH
renewing his technical and racing deal,

It was a good move by Fernando, but ferrari and him have to up their game if they should have some moore WDC :s the following years.
I think a big wonder for him is "the teammate".

Well that was a good move by Ferrari. Flavio will take over the controls very soon and Alonso can fly to the front
Good luck, he'll need lots of it.

In WRC M.Wilson have a five years plan to be champion, here we can see a new five years plan.... with same results?

That is a very long way off 2016. I would be amazed if by 2016 season, Alonso is still at Ferrari. So much can happen by then.

How can you put Wilson and Alonso on same level ? not even Daniel would do that :p :

I think they both try to reach something in motorsport, at least Wilson do, you disagree??? My opinion is that FA has that possibility - maybe you see it otherwise.
Longest contract I can remember (ok, Hamilton with McLaren from 08-12 was similar), even Schumacher's contracts with Ferrari weren't that long. Maybe until 2014 would have made sense, especially as Vettel's contract with RBR ends with 2014 as well.
But 2016? Well, Alonso must have huge confidence that his motivation won't drop even an inch for many years to come regardless of the circumstances that may arise (tough team-mate, uncompetitive car, whatever). And Ferrari sees Alonso as the very best and doesn't feel the need to even consider someone else (younger) for long-term.

Of course, what's not been disclosed are the options for either party to end the contract early. I'm sure they exist.

They must do, no team or driver would sign for that long without get out clause.
If Ferrari drop to an early 90's level of performance, Alonso will want out and likewise if Fernando has a crash or loses his ability or race performance Ferrari won't want to put up with 3 seasons of Alonso out of the points.
