Anyone???

No??

Because I have, a nice hole, just like someone did shoot from inside a box with a shotgun. Most strage thing is that it's still fully functional. I can see the axel and all other stuff. The mechanic warned me not to drive another meter with it yet here I am, at work with my car. Guess I like living on the edge :dozey:

Anyway, VAG company rules...

Well, it depends... now it's going to be around 500€. The broken part costs 209€ plus shipping from Germany. And the oil and work is another around 250€.

But if I manage to break the whole gearbox before the repairing, then it's another level of euros.

Therefore I'm surfing car-rental pages because I can get my car fixed earliest at next thursday.

???????? so what is the problem????

engines and gearboxes will operate just fine without any oil in them

many years ago, back when real men changed their own oil in their own cars, a neighbor was in the process, and had just drained the oil from the engine, when he stopped for lunch.

After lunch, his daughter jumped in the car and drove down to the local grocery store without any oil in the engine.

when she got there, she called daddy on the phone, and told him the car ran just fine until she was pulling into the parking lot, then it started sounding like the kitchen garbage disposal had been turned on......

Like I said, engines and gearboxes will operate just fine without any oil in them. They just do not operate for a long time...

Well there used to be an advert on TV that showed them drain a car engine of oil, that had been run with some product like Moly Graphite in it,and it kept on running for miles. But in my experience as a motor technician, the bearings go knackered very quickly with NO lubrication!

Markabilly, you just reminded me of someone that had his brand new LandRover delivered to him at work. He went to drive it home at 5.30 and never made it. The engine seized up due to it not having any oil in it. Guy Salmon lost a very influential customer that day.

Same thing happened to my dad a few years back, got a brand new Ford Focus company car with no oil in the gearbox and it seized up.

He got a BMW courtesy car while the garage and Ford had a protracted argument about who should pay. He didn't care too much :)
