According to the peace treaty with the Soviet Union and other Allied Countries, Finland was allowed to have no more than 60 fighter jets. Now they have revealed that in the 1970s to 1980s Sweden was storing Draken fighter jets for Finland and Finland trained a surplus of fighter pilots, who were meant to fly those fighter jets stored by Sweden in case of a war with the Soviet Union. Pretty sneaky.

Apparently the US isn't the only one who doesn't honor international treaties.

Reminds me of a joke commonly told around military excercices here. An old man was following tanks moving around in his fields. He walked up to an officer and said: "I've followed you guys here for years and it's always the same, agressor always comes from the east in these excercises, why is that?
And the officer replied, "you're right, they could try to flank us from the west."

It's not just planes mind you, just today I read that Finnish military is bouying some old Soviet Ällitälli's (MT-LB/V) from Sweden. :p

I guess it was for you gov to feel good as anyway neither the quality nor the number of the planes would have been enough in case the Russians decided to sneeze over Finland.

A favourite of mine. Thankfully, there are still some flying, including a gorgeous one in Sweden.
