I'm mostly talking about fans here! I'd always thought on reading this forum and going to events that almost as many women like motorsport as men. But I've been looking at some of the stats which come out of running the facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/motorsportforums) and it's very startling that a whopping 88% of those who've 'Like'd the page are Male!

Thought when i saw the thread you were on about, women who had competed in Motorsport. So if thats what it could turn into, then Pat Moss,or Liz Nadin ,or?

Michele Mouton, Louise Aitken-Walker...

Fairly blokey on the Wyedean at the weekend. Some women looked genuinely interested but quite a few looked completely bored out of their minds, like they'd been dragged along against their will.

Certainly my missus. What's not to love about standing on the wet, muddy cold bank at Paddock waiting for me? Oh yeah, when you put it like that...

Sounds like men out shopping. Dragged against their will, and not there because they enjoy it, but they just tolerate it.

When I had motorsport related clients in my previous job I tended to find that men involved in motorsport would tell me anything and everything. They were worse than women for gossiping. :D

The first racing event I took my girlfriend to was a wet BTCC meeting at Knockhill. On arriving in the boggy car park she revealed that she'd only bought a pair of flip-flops with her.

Every time I've had a girl over when I've been watching BTCC she's ended up reading a magazine, hijacking my laptop or migrating to another room altogether. It's either not for those girls, or my enthusiasm was just too much!

Michelle Mouton - I still have the VCR tape of the Auto Union Years which also features her. She was sensational. And what a looker too.

To be fair I end up doing the same thing when watching the BTCC sometimes :p

Just asked a couple of work colleagues (there other halves work in Mercedes and Renault) and they said they'd rather be on mumsnet!

When I was 22, I was dating an older woman (she was 29 at the time) who loved F1 and was a major Williams fan. It used to be bloody good fun. We would sit on the couch in her flat, me shouting for Ferrari and her for Williams. It was almost better than sex to have a woman who loved motorsports (and F1 in particular) as much as I did. One of the best 5 months of my life :)
