Hi guys,

Thought i would share my project that i started the other day.

My plan is to respray it, change the exhaust, wheels, spoiler and replace the engine bay. Also add a few other details like a numberplate etc. This is my first model project apart from the btcc mazda xedos i did which was 1/43.

Feel free to post pictures of your own model projects :)

First had to strip the entire model

Then sand it down and add the primer

4 coats of metallic blue paint, needs a light going over inside then the lacquer on top.

I will update this thread in the next few days.

I like the new color. It'll be nice to see the finished product.

I thought i would post a picture of the interior, changed the seats, the handbrake and put a couple of nos bottles in the back.

nos is nice :)
curious, tho. will the hose from the nos go all the way to the engine compartment, or just to the passenger seat? lol

That is actually a yellow paper clip i bent, it will go into the dashboard but not actually into the engine.

I have reassembled all the parts, i just need to fit the accessories.

Also the engine on the left is the replacement engine. (twin turbocharged) Looks much better than a thin piece of plastic.

I also thinking about buying some black frosting spray which will make the windows look tinted.

Update: Added the spoiler, a intercooler, a fire extinguisher and turbo boost gauge inside but the engine wont fit so im swapping it with a honda engine. I have to wait for the rest of the parts to come so it will take a while.

Numberplate and exhausts came today, the exhausts i just stuck on with sellotape for now just to show what it will look like...

Still a few things to do and go over a few things with a small paint brush to tidy it up and obviously still have the wheels to buy.

Nice! I started stripping down a Burago 1/18 E-Type that someone had scratched. Once I got the paint off the bonnet though I got a bit obsessed with polishing it to make it like an aluminium bodied thing. By the time I'd finished the bonnet I had got bored and it's still in bits in a tub somewhere. Reading this thread has made be want to do it all again.

Just a quick question, when you stripped it did you flake the paint off with a blade or use a stripper like nitromors? I was flaking it as it seemed quite easy but having used nitromors to strip some full sized alloys I think that might be a better option.

Nice, i will definitely start another project as i have enjoyed this one. It's not perfect but we have to start somewhere. If you get round to starting your e-type please post your progress on here, its nice to see other peoples work and that they enjoy doing what i do as well. this is my first project so i only stripped a £20 model in fear of buying a highly detailed model and making a mess of it.

First thing i did was take all the parts off which left me with the shell, doors etc. I then put this (link) on all the parts as it says: http://www.emodels.co.uk/plastic-kits/product_info.php?products_id=17270
Then place in a air tight bag over night and wash in the morning and it takes all the paint off, then i sanded it down with p400 then moving up to 1000 and primered it with 3 layers in 15 minute intervals.

A youtube video helped me through the process, before that i didn't know what sand paper to use or how many coats was best.

I'm still after some wheels if anyone has any please pm me, they have to be black alloys with the brakes. Thanks.

Cool. Think I'll have a crack with the stripper, although it's slightly more hardcore than the stuff you were using. Mines already in pieces, I took it all apart before I started and was planning to paint it but the shine made me consider just polishing it up. Reckon I'll just go ahead and paint it now though, the polishing is bloody tedious and trying to get the swirls out was a pain.

That's very nicely done. Not my sort of car but I can certainly appreciate the skill involved :)
