There is a rumor going around that Ferrari is going to have a new livery. I also understand it's going to be launched with F10 front and rear wings.

A new livery for Italy's 150 year anniversary?
That would be pretty cool! I can't wait for tomorrow.
I'm also excited to see the season get underway. Finally, a Mexican in F1.

They have managed to keep it quite secret.
One thing I am 99.9 percent sure of is The Italian Tricolor is going to be much more prominent due to the anniversary.
I'm hoping they highlight the side pods with black. :vader:

watching the Ferrari launch now (due to illness may I add) and the front of the cr certainly looks extremely similar to the F10, except slightly higher. The rear wing is different (and also features an Italian flag on the back). The air intakes on the sidepods seem larger, and the diffuser is now alot simpler (from the quick shot I saw of it). A mercedes like fin on the engine cover is also featured.
F1 2011 starts here :)

The car looks very neat with very clean lines but will obviously go through a lot of changes before Bahrain. New front and rear wings and a new difuser being the obvious areas for change.
I don't like the livery, but I haven't liked the livery since they changed to Marlboro red in '97, so put me in the "grumpy old *******" category who thinks everything was better in the old days. I want my Ferraris blood red with black wings god dammit!

Aren't the double diffusers banned for 2011? Although, even for a single diffuser that does look like a bit too vanilla. Surely that's going to change around testing. Also, I expect major modifications to the front and rear wings.

It seems they've gone the Mclaren route with the high nose, probably to have better airflow and stability at higher speeds for faster circuits

Ferarri have a new Innovative Suspension that links the front and rear suspensions via Hydrolics, will probably be passive, but control pitch of car and aid aero and mechanichal stability

Both wings are from the F10, and they are not showing any real inovations at this launch.
I suspect that diffuser is not what they plan on using.
But one never knows

Woohoo, F1 is back, winter is over (kind of :D )
I love the Italian tricolore on the rear wing. I'm sure Jarno Trulli will appreciate it when he's sitting behind a Ferrari on the grid ;)
They've still got those funny air flow guides on the front wheels. I thought we were losing those for this year - did that ever make it into the rulebook? If it did then maybe BBS haven't finished the new front wheels yet.

:s On what basis?!
I found this amusing, seeing as Felipe fought a driver for the world championship who seemed to be vindicated by the FIA all season. He still did well to fight Hamilton so hard don't get me wrong, but what LdM is affectively saying is that Lewis didn't deserve his 2008 title. I find this rather rude and un-sportsman like on LdM's part, and on a slightly biased note I couldn't agree less.

As others have said there will doubtless be alot of chances making the car look alot different by the time we reach Bahrain.

Car doesn't look bad though the sidepods appear very conservative, perhaps to fit in KERS.
Surprised by Ferrari losing Etihad and not being able to fill up the space with another sponsor (hence the Italian tricolour). If Ferrari have trouble finding sponsors it doesn't bode well for the teams further down the grid in trouble...

By the way, do you consider this year's Ferrari -or what we've seen of it so far- to be conservative or innovative? I can't think of many recent innovations which Ferrari have developed, yet they are almost always close to the frontrunners, if it isn't them who are first.

By the way, do you consider this year's Ferrari -or what we've seen of it so far- to be conservative or innovative? I can't think of many recent innovations which Ferrari have developed, yet they are almost always close to the frontrunners, if it isn't them who are first. It will either be innovative or it will not be competitive. There are still too many unknowns.
KERS, actual wings, and aero devices that are used when it counts, (as we do not know what they are holding back if it is anything of substance). If someone else breaks out a new solution before the end of testing, and other teams show up with something similar it does not mean it is necessarily a copy. It may just be that the team already had it and didn't feel the need to display it. In regard to Ferrari, their positioning of their push-rod assembly may be problematic, or it may be genius. But it is definitely innovative. I think McLaren learned a valuable lesson last year, and probably have some alternative solutions that will integrate quite easily into the 26. That long wheel base and historically T.O.T.L. KERS puts them in a very good position to start from.
As for reality, when Ferrari came up with innovations in the past the other teams cried foul. After being approved by the FIA they were deemed “Ferrari International Assistance”.
It appears to this observer that it all adds up to anti-Ferrari fanaticism. Luckily the championship is not handed out to the team that comes up with the most innovations. It is given to the team/pilot that is consistently fastest and where they finish in the standings at the end of the year. One thing I suggest you do not overlook is that Ferrari will most likely not have to fight ¾ of the season wondering if they have enough engines to make it to the end.
That may be all they need!
Mia 01
5th February 2011, 00:28
I think ferrari has a good base to build on, a rather conservative approach compared to the mac but they not have to play catch up with so many unknown factors.
