Health Cover for 9/11 Rescuers Approved

This morning on radio news I heard that the coverage of health care costs for rescue workers and volunteers affected by the 9/11 attacks had been approved by the US House of Representatives. I was surprised, because it never occurred to me that they already weren't. The news said that many of the rescue workers have become ill because of the toxic fumes they inhaled during the work and some of them have even lost their homes, because they didn't have a medical insurance. What was even more surprising (or maybe not) was that some Republicans opposed the law:

Some Republicans objected to the measure because it calls for new taxes on American companies that use offshore operations to reduce their tax obligations.

Get real Eki! Adding $300 billion to the national deficit on tax-breaks for the rich is a lot more important than the quality of life for measly 9/11 heroes. I think that the wealthy Senators (who coincidentally are going to receive those tax-breaks) vehemently opposing the health benefits for ailing rescue workers are completely just. Remember that in America it is imperative to cater to the elite and make sure to keep all other vassals subjugated.

The flag waving Republicans were going to filibuster this bill. They tried all

they could so much so that one senator stated that it was interfering with

their Christmas holiday break. Senator Kyl I believe his name is.

In the good old US of A if you don't have medical insurance, you never pay medical bills before you pay your "shelter, and sustenance" bills. Large metropolitan areas have hospitals (some) that will not refuse treatment whether you have the means to pay or not. You do have to go through the Emergency entrance but that is just a formality, and inconvenience. There are also Clinics with MD's in the urban areas that charge about 20% of what private practice MD's charge. Most likely these victims are making an excuse for getting into a mortgage they couldn't afford. It sucks for a lot of Americans that (for whatever the underlying reasons) they get foreclosed on, but it is an epidemic. If you live in the U.S. and don't know someone that has been foreclosed on, or a whole "Slug" of people that don't have health insurance you must live in a cave and not get out much.
As for the bill I am very happy it passed.
As I like to say, the last line of our National Anthem need to be changed in the interest of fair disclosure to:

"O'er the land of the gullible, and the home of the greedy"

BTW all of the police, the firemen, and medical professionals including ambulance drivers and EMT's had health insurance.
I question the intelligence of someone that would "dive" on to ground zero that didn't have health insurance
if for no other reason than the risk of getting a fracture or serious contusions, and or torn soft tissue.
