I was just on my "thinking" seat musing about past events during the last 12 months. With 2010 quickly drawing to a close, what has been your personal highlight during the last 12 months? Any memorable events? Weddings, births, graduations, reunions, travels, awards...?

For me, I'd have to say leaving my previous employer after over 15 years, and joining another company. That was a big move in my career :s hock: .
Also memorable was my 6 year old transitioning from kindergarten to grade 1 :)

I'd say mine was watching two of my best friends tie the knot... I got a little insight into how much one person can mean to another that day!

Good year for my clan;

Became a Dad for the second time (he's 9 months already! Where has that gone?) whilst my eldest started school for the first time and also made me a proud old racer by getting the Karting bug :D

Not dying back in March-April has to be pretty high on my list. I've never done it before, but I kinda figure that dying would have sucked.

My biggest personal highlight was getting married back in the summer, and worth every penny of the 30 grand my folks and her folks forked out! :p

Other highlights were two of our best friends marrying two of our other best friends. Its been a year of weddings and parties, and alot of fun. The world cup BBQ my mate held in London was great, celebrating Englands first match. :)

With all due respect henners88 but did you spend 30 000 to a wedding?

Hey, I'm not judging here. :)

It just seem a huge amount of money... for a wedding. Congrats btw :)

Congrats henners!
As for the money next time tell them to transfer it into your bank account instead of throwing it away on a wedding!

Had an angiogram which showed one of my arteries was 90% blocked, so the Cardio inserted a stent to open it up.

Having video footage that i'd filmed in 14 TV shows through out this year. 2011 looks likely that we will have 30 TV programmes :D

Seeing your own footage in a TV show knowing you've filmed it feels quite special to me considering it's still only a hobby!

I got to translate a book from my favorite authors - Rick Riordan. That was pretty cool. It was a small book, but likely the most enjoyable work as a translator I ever had.

Hey Mkbilly, I appreciate your wife's commitment to a new career path as a lumberjack. I'll keep an eye out for any job postings around here and let you know.

Having one of my articles picked up by several websites including one of the most read automotive sites.
That was the highlight but other articles were also reprinted.
Downside this now 5 week old flu.

Maybe it's time to see a doctor, if you haven't already (about the flu, not the article).

Thanks Eki but I have seen my doctor. Not much they can do. Just has to run its course. We seem to have a nasty strain this year which hangs on for weeks. I know other people who have or had it and it takes weeks. :(

Not really.

About 6 years ago my best friend married his long term girlfriend and her parents spent just under ZAR 1,600,000 (Euro 177,000) on the wedding and he nearly had a heart attack when he saw the final bill. My cousins wedding 2 years ago cost just over ZAR 1,100,000 (Euro 122,000).

30K is a bargain!

Highlights for me are:

- Another record year for my business even though there was/is a world recession
- The 2010 FIFA World Cup was a great success
- The Sharks won the Currie Cup
- The speedo picture man, the speedo picture was a classic

A wedding party is not worth throwing if it doesn't make profit.

Back to the topic, my son turned three. He developed quite a personality and I see that as a highlight. I also made peace with my wife despite nearly having divorced and having done nasty things to each other.

Personal highlight? Well, I learned a lot of new skills in doing community TV, including Camera, and the highlight of which I was on the field for the Ontario Football (Canadian football) championships final game, the "Metro Bowl"...and I also met a ton of new friends as I am getting more involved in local affairs and have found a whole new life circle. All in all...that there and good health is enough!

The best wedding that I've attended in the last few years was the cheapest with only around 20 guests for the wedding and wedding breakfast. Alot more people attended the reception that night. The bride and groom spent more on their 3 week tour of Canada for their honeymoon than they did on the actual wedding. If I were to get married I would most probably do the same. I'm on your side A.F.F. :)
