Usuall car combo for this one for me. Nice to see the BTB stages of last year have gone, maybe I might finish this one :L

Bruce D
6th December 2010, 11:06
Yeah those BTB stages don't work in this sort of environment and I think the championship is running smoother without it. Haven't had to cancel a stage yet.

Is the deadline Tuesday 14th or Monday 13th? Because I have LOADS of coursework due for 13th, so would only be able to take part after that. If the deadline was 14th or 15th I would mightily appreciate it. Cheers.

It would be the 14th but on this occasion the 16th is a holiday here so I would probably only have the results on Friday the 17th so I'll let everyone have until then at the very latest.

Wonder how I got that date confused though, anyway...

Does anyone know how to get gravel tyres in France when not using RSRBR. I've got the stages in perfect gravel, however i'm sliding all over the place as I'm using tarmac tyres.

There is a small mod that takes care of this. It's called "rbr wrong+tyre" but I'm unable to find a place where you can download it. I'll send it to you if you don't mind.

You start it before you start RBR. Then you choose what tires you want to have and leave it running in the background when playing RBR. It will then override default tire choices. The drawback of it is that you have to exit RBR to change the tires to a different type.

Not sure if it works as I'm still sliding manically. What is the average gap between fastest time on Arbroz on tarmac and on gravel? My gap is over a minute which to me seems unlikely. And when I used tarmac tyres it was only 3.8s once which also seems unlikely.

Bruce D
8th December 2010, 14:41
The France stages are known to be very slippery in gravel mod, although I don't seem to find them like that.

Use the search function for the forums, advanced search, and arbroz gravel on the sims forum.

Surely we have ran these stages in gravel guise before.

You could also visit the RSRBR10 site. Ther is a fastest times links somewhere-even for modded stages

How bumpy is your ride across the fjords, MacD? Are you taking them flat?

pettersolberg29
9th December 2010, 16:10
So are you guys saying that a time around 3:30-ish is right for Arbroz in gravel? I'd like to know before I submit the wrong times as I want to do the fair and exact route. If its 10-20 seconds either side then that suggests I've got it set up correct.

NeverKnow
9th December 2010, 16:54
I managed 2:53,30 on my recce with semi-tarmac setup. My guess is the mod you are using has different surface properties than in RSRBR.

Bruce D
10th December 2010, 05:28
Came across an issue last night, the 2nd stage on Day 2 (Sipirikan II) can only be done in the dry.

Anyway, finished my rally last night. Happy with some stages, not happy with the last rain stage, didn't have a good run at all and probably lost a minute in total.

PS29, that time you predict for Cote D'Arbroz is miles off my time last night. I'm more around NK's time, which suggests, like he says, that your mod is giving low grip. What mod are you using?

NeverKnow

Overall the car felt good but little bouncy over the river crossings, so I had to take them slower than I would have liked.

Not sure about it but the textures seem right, dust, sound etc. Just it is too slippery to drive!

Great, more millons of MB of downloading for hardly an update. Hopefully they'll just make a patch update from 2010 to 2011 like they did from 08 to 09.

I finished the rally and it was quite bad for me. The car itself was good but I pushed too much and made many mistakes during the event. I'm not expecting much from it result wise.

On SS2 I made two halfspins and on the next stage I had a slight off.

SS4 I had a halfspin near the start of the stage and about halfway through the windshield cracked. I had poor visibility after that and had few scary moments. I then just tried to finish the stage.

On SS5 I lost focus near a hairpin and slid into the guardrailing. Took me some time to get going again.

Macd
11th December 2010, 16:12
First day done. Two off's on stage 2 i think have ruined my chances here :( I think I'll just keep it together for the next two days and aim for a podium at best.

I have finished my rally and I must say it was really a mixed event for me.

Things started reasonably well on first day but it went downhill for the second day, pushed to hard in those twisty stages and spent most of the time correcting lines and gripping the car from small offs.
Last day was ok but I am not expecting great results, I will have to remember the limits because I was lucky not to crash seriously on some stages, I even got an huge warning on the 2 corner of the rally :D .

pettersolberg29
11th December 2010, 22:54
Same - but I haven't worked out how to get the France stages in gravel yet so I fear I may lose out there.

Also, in my extensive testing I'm finding Sipirkakim incredibly hard to finish. Started it about 50 times now, finished it once...the first quarter of the stage is flat out basically and I'm always going a touch wide once and smashing a tree. Grrr!

Bruce D
12th December 2010, 04:52
The notes on that stage aren't perfect either so there are one or two that catch you out. Also I found that you have to throw the car into the corners there to keep them in the groove otherwise you go offline and are into the bushes.

Rally finished here. And It wasn't a good one. In ss4 couldn't catch up with co driver's calls.
In ss5 nearly retired but thankfully, my DS3 made It to finish with 1st gear. Last stage of the rally was a disaster.
Many offroads and crashes-Barely finished with engine high temperature.
Apart the above Incidents had some good moments with a great car-The DS3 Is behaving brilliant over gravel/mud.
Waiting for some tarmac tests.

pettersolberg29
12th December 2010, 13:31
I've finished SD and Day 1. Just to let you know Bruce that I have suddenly changed to a Citroen C4 as it deals with the bumps in Japan much better. SD times mean little as the Rally School stage isnt representative really and I've done it so many times. Best time of 1:11.05
Day 1 went much better than expected. Harwood 2 was good, got a nice rhythm. Sipirkakim was OK in the end - managed to finish but took the first part of the stage far too cautiously. Regained some time in the twisty forest sections where I really pushed. Day 2 tonight.

New Submission date

Due to the fact that Thursday is a holiday here and I already had one request for an extension and that I have now taken Friday off work, the new submission date will be Sunday 19th December at Midnight (your time). I think I've finished my rally. I re-installed the France-gravel mod and the wrong-tyre mod and re-did the stages and got much more valid times I think. I will PM a random member to compare times if that's allowed to ensure that I have time to re-run the stages if my times look odd. As I said though, I am pretty confident that I have finished! Pirka Menoko was brilliant, every other stage was average.

pettersolberg29
17th December 2010, 14:28
I don't know, but it is so much fun to drive. It is easy to get a fast time, but its almost impossible to get a great time. I did it about 10 times in testing and got a time within a total range of about 2s in every run. PM2 is almost as good but I was a little bit slower due to less knowledge and slightly worse pacenotes in my opinion.

pettersolberg29
17th December 2010, 16:36
After contacting another member I can confirm I have finished the rally! Think HF2 and PM1+2 were excellent, but struggled a bit on Sipirkakin 1+2 and the French gravel ones. Hopeful of a good result though.

Result wise it was really good rally for the team with OMV taking two podium places.
I think a car change is in order for the next event and I'm considering switching to 2011 WR car if I can get RSRBR11 running.
