^I was damn sleepy by midnight and kickoff was 0130, but a match like this...makes sleep go away...as does the Barca defence to be honest
but yeah crazy game...3 points is all that matters. Only fly in the ointment is stupid CR7 and his goal celebration. Bale is useless- confirmed (sure he is fast but adds nothing else to the game, Benzema was so much better than both)
Neymar needs to learn how to finish a chance laid out on a platter. Tips from Suarez maybe? ;)
It could have been 5-1 or 4-3 !
A FONDO
23rd March 2015, 12:33
Could have been 1-4 too
Storm
24th March 2015, 07:46
yes, that's why I said 4-3 - Madrid could have had a couple more goals in the 1st half but in the 2nd half? They were nowhere while Barca wasted a couple of great chances and had a couple saved...That Alba one would have been a goal if anyone of the top 3 had been on it (well maybe not Ney ;) )
steveaki13
24th March 2015, 08:51

anfield5
25th March 2015, 01:18
Neymar = pathetic.
Why does he have to roll around on the ground like someone has cut his leg of with a rusty axe, simply because a RM player taps his shin pad. Basically it is cheating to try and get a fellow professional sent off. This is were vidoe refs should be used and players guilty of this sort of blatant behaviour should be banned from the game.
Sure he was kicked and it was a free kick, but there is no excuse for this kind of utter bullshit. He is not the only one, but he is absolutely one of the worst.
Storm
25th March 2015, 06:51
To be honest this is true for most Brazilian and/or Portuguese players. Some others like Busquets aren't averse to that either.

Stop dreaming my friend, and pray you don't have to play Juve in semifinals. Juve didn't need to score, Monaco had to ;) :p:
But people come to football for goals. It`s frustrating to see the teams that are supposed to be the best of the moment playing to keep a result.

We did our best vs a very good Team, organized and motivated. Morata was sick, Tevez and Pirlo in bad shape, and Pogba is still recovering from his injuries. Wish we had played as good as we did in Dortmund, we just couldn't. Most important thing, was to reach the semifinals, we did it. Remember that we have already reached Coppa Italia final, and almost won our 4th scudetto on row. Now we are among 4 best in Europe, with a much much less money budget than Barca, Bayern and Real, but also PSG and a dozen of English Clubs...

gadjo jokes apart, sometimes you have to grind out a result, hold on to a lead to progress..so I agree with what pino says and am happy ZZuve are in the top 4 again.
of course when you do that play in every match and still win then its boring (Chelsea or most Mou teams)

So easy to play well and win most of the times, when you have so much money, so you can afford players like Messi, Neymar, and Haanibal-Suarez as strikers, right Storm ? Even much easier to support such a Club...

I was agreeing with you and now you go and spoil it :p:
Messi was not bought, they have a philosophy and try to use as many academy players as possible...They had to go and buy big players to compete with what Madrid kept doing all the time...
It is easy to support a club which wins a lot and plays well and has many fans (But then isn't Juventus one of those clubs in the Italian context too? ). In my case I liked the way they played and the whole identity of that club just clicked for me. Also I became a fan when they had won only 1 European cup and well before their golden period from 2005 onwards, infact they were being bullied by Madrid at that time in the league and Europe.

 I thought it was the opposite. They always bought the biggest names. Cruyff, Maradona......
I remember the match Belgium - Argentina in WC 1982 when someone said that the money spent on Maradona could have bought the entire Standard Liege for Barcelona.

I too wish that, football was just a game. Now, most Club are owned by rich Arabs, Russian, American (and now also Asian) rich businessman. Isn't a game anymore ! And yes Juventus is owned by Agnelli Family, but they never put so much money in the Club. That's why in the past, we sold players like Zidane, Henry, Vieri, and next will be Pogba.

And Madrid did not buy big players then?At least in the post Cryuff (coach) era, Barca have had a strong academy with emphasis on home grown players. But to compete you need to buy of course.

Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against Italian football. But in 2003 (I think) 2 Italian teams played the final. How far are those days now? I'd like Juventus to win the CL because I always root for the underdog when I don't really care about any of them. But the really tough part starts now. BVB looks like a team falling apart and Monaco may be a strong team but nothing extraordinary.
pino
24th April 2015, 10:33
And why you think that happened ? Many foreign rich people invested loads of money on English Club. Germany never really had a financial crisis like we still have in Italy, and Barca and Real Madrid, are, and will always be too rich for any Italian Club, to compete with them. Also add that, we didn't had a good new generation of new players, like we always had in the past. All this put Serie A behind PL, La liga and German Bundesliga. Today we have 3 Club in semifinals, but unless rich people invest in Serie A, or Italy financial crisis ends, will be difficult for Serie A to go back on top, as we were in the past.
Btw, I never read anything nice from you about Italy and the Italian, so it's hard to believe, you have nothing against Italian football. But that's your problem ;)

I'm sure I did say at least one nice thing about Italy. I was delighted when they beat Germany in Euro 2012 semis for instance. I love Italy but I don't care for any Italian team in particular right now. I used to like Juventus back in the days of Pavel Nedved. But I also liked the Milan of Shevchenko and the Roma of Totti (at his peak). And I think Pirlo is a genius :p. And listening a whole stadium sing the Inno di Mameli gives me goose bumps for some reason :p. So I'd say I'm at least neutral.... as long Balotelli is not involved. My distaste for the guy knows no bounds :p.

The front three have gelled to perfection just need to see if they can continue like this in the crunch game vs Bayern and the match vs Atletico which might end up deciding La Liga!
The problem as always is they come against a team which only wants to defend 90' (Getafe tried but they do not have the quality or intensity needed to defend the whole game), but this year it looks like they have plan B, at least their plan A itself is tweaked to be more effective with Messi on the right side.
and of course lets not talk about the brain fade that happens to people like Pique in some matches :s

I don't want to p155 on the Barca fans parade but the standard of teams in the bottom half of La Liga is very poor.
The gap between the big 3 is increasing. And If Real Madrid and Barca don't start sharing the TV money around fairly then the gap will continue to grow. To put it in perspective, most of the teams in the bottom half of La Liga operate on budgets lower than many clubs in the English Championship. No wonder Real and Barca regularly thump teams 6-0 and 9-1.
Storm
30th April 2015, 07:51
^Even if that is quite true you still have to watch out for those "lower" teams...Getafe got a 2-2 draw in the Camp Nou last season which effectively meant Barca lost the title to AtM.
The same Getafe who got thumped 6-0, drew 0-0 in the earlier fixture of the season..

That is the beauty of Football. You get more upsets than in other sports. Like Bradford beating Chelsea in the FA Cup or Cambridge drawing with Man Utd or even FC Porto beating Bayern the other week.
But my general point was that the gap between top and bottom in La Liga is relatively much greater than it is in other European leagues. It seems that every club in Spain apart from Barcelona and Real Madrid are in a financial mess and have to sell their best players every season.
