Can someone tell me, without any doubt, if Araujo's Mini has 33 or 30 mm restrictor?
There's a lot of confusion: asked to 10 person and got 10 different answers!!!
Thanks in advance!

Q. What's the difference in the engine between this [S2000] Mini and the car Kris Meeke will drive in Sardinia?

David Lapworth: Nothing. There's no difference in terms of horsepower. The flywheel is different on the World Rally Car, but that's the only difference.

N.O.T
24th March 2011, 20:01
so the restrictor is 33 same at WRC.

Looking at the damage, i think he was able to just put the spare wheel and drive normally.

Mads is still carrying his bad karma. How many times has he changed a wheel midstage, or had some other minor damage that has cause a timeloss of a 2-3 minutes. Okey, this was a driving mistake, but still - even mistakes are sometimes down to luck. In Sweden he had an exceptional and clean run, look at the result. I do very much hope better luck for the rest of the season so we could see the true potential of his speed with the Fiesta.

Yeah but at the same time Mads is very experienced on snow, I think it will be hard for him to repeat the result on any other rally.

True. That is why added word excecptional. He's podium in Sweden was down to preferable circumstances. But I still believe with a clean gravel run he can be right behind the top guns and much closer in terms of timegap.

yes, that would be pretty cool, but at the moment there´s noone who would be able to fight for good places in wrc. german rallye fans hope that with vw there will be a chance to get some driver into a wrc, maybe if riedemann can show good speed at the academy is a good candidate for this. also maybe gassner jr. but atm there´s in my opinion no other driver from germany with good speed.

how fast is Araujo as a driver compared to the top 5??

I think that neither himself knows...

First rally of the car, first rally of Armindo with a WRC in 4 years (last and only one was 2007 with a Lancer WRC here) and very cautious.

We should remember that this rally to Mini is like a test session. The car is not finished, otherwise Prodrive would come to Porytugal with Meeke and Sordo.

There was talk about that the conditions this year is different from last year. The rally is much earlyer this year and there has been an hard winter which have compressed the surface of the roads. There are almost no lose gravel and no huge cleaning effect. Conditions can't be comparred with last year, both surface wise and temprature wise.

Which is not a surprise to anyone who has actually seen him, he has a great deal of R2 experience and is very quick in S2000 as well (which is what I told this forum when I predicted his excellent performance at Wales Rally GB.) This is definitely one for the future, but keep watching Alistair Fisher :s mokin:

If you think that ON THESE CONDITIONS this is not fast, than is your opinion that i must respect.

But don't expect that i share your point of view.

These are fast times to a new car very precautious drived. This car is fighting by the second WRC group, and is in front of the third WRC group. David Lapworth told yesterday that Armindo's has 90% of the value of the final WRC car.

If a new car on these conditions would be almost as fast as the top WRC cars on his first rally, then after some rallyes this car should win over everybody. Absolutely non-sense, but ok.

I'm not questioning the Armindo's pace, that's not the point.

The point is that a new car, not even finished, with no aerodinamic wing (important on stages with fast zones like these ones) being in the midle of the second WRC group on his first event, is not bad. Is good. You are pointing things as if Mini will be on top on his first rallyes with Meeke and Sordo. It won't be at that place on first rallyes. Don't dream with that.

Ford and Citroen have new cars, is true. But when Prodrive had first test, DS3 already had thousands of km of tests. Ford started later from a base called Fiesta S2000. Mini Started testing in mid September from a complete blank sheet. The test program on the last 2010 months from Ford and Citroen is not even compared to the test program from Prodrive. The tests of Ford and Citroen on to Portugal had days of work. Ford tested, at least, 8 days in Portugal on the last 45 days. And Mini, how many tests had in Portugal since February? The answer is one afternoom at Monday test this week.

Armindo is not a top WRC driver like Hirvonen or Loeb, don't have more than 200km on WRC Mini (started the rali with 50km on this car)

Everyting count.

Everyting count.
you are right in everything you wrote.I just wrote all these cause some mates said that minis pace is ok.
If David came to portugal to see minis first rally and is ok to be even at first rally at s2000 car pace,i am really worrying about their targets

Also Paddon is now nearly 3 mins ahead of Protasov if he does nothing silly this one would appear to be in the bag. Even if Flodin and Grondal hadn't hit trouble they'd have had difficulty staying with him!

Grondal trouble? He's only a handful of seconds behind Paddon

Agree that Craig Breen is impressive, didn't expect him (or any of the other WRC Academy drivers to be so much quicker than the others). is he taking a lot more risks than the others?
