Being BRC seems to have ruined it for WRC cars, looks like a poor entry in that respect.

Yea its a shame theres barely any WRC cars this year.
I was listening to a photographer at Wyedean and apparently the Sunseeker bosses phoned up Andy Burton asking why he wasnt entering and apparently he was quite blunt saying there was no competition for him and he cant win the event outright!

Yeah, quite agree - it's an event I always look forward to, and despite the 4-5 hour drive down, I enjoy it. There have been some fantastic entries in years gone by. Joining the BRC isn't all it's cracked up to be. However, with the demise of the ANCRO series, where else could they have gone?
I'm undecided about traveling down this year.

And is it worth the 20 quidish for a forest pass.
As the Whydean had a great entry list this year,. And was only 5 quid.

And I reckon you can see the top part of the mainfield on 4 stages at the Wyedean. I managed to see 1400s, Historics and most the main lot on Serridge1, then the 1400s, Historics and top 15-20 on Mailscot and the whole mainfield on Sallowvallets last week. If we'd been willing to leave early enough to catch Chepstow Park then we'd probably have seen quite a bit there too.
At Sunseeker it's not often that we catch more than 2 stages these days, depending on the running order, and you usually have to pay even more for one of the stages too. IMO it's a bit of a joke event that's taking the piss. I'll stick with the Exeter/Hartlepool game I think.

Looks like a very sub standard entry list to me.Can afford the £20 pass ,but it's too sunny here!

Yep we got 3 stages in starting with Chepstow Parc, the Speechouse, and Serridge 2.

So, no Cronin this year? Anyone know why the "small" cars are top seeded?
MrJan
18th February 2011, 21:16
I assume it's to do with the BRC rules, i.e BRC say only s2000, R2 etc. but still run at the top of the order.

Dont start me off about Cronin, its bloody unbelieveable that a talent like that cannot find the budget for a driver
The best answer I got about the seeding from Britishrally Forum was "because they deserve to!" But im guessing there will be a brief gap between the FWD cars and the 4WD as they must surely be so much quicker?

Yeah the tail end of the BRC lot shirley won't be that quick? Mind you I think that Wug Utting is in the first 5 of the National field and he's usually fairly far down the order.

Yep being a BRC round then all BRC competitors will have prioity on the stages, so running at the front of the field.
Personally looking at the BRC over the last 10 years or so, then i think its a big mistake by Sunseeker to go BRC.
I stoped paying any intrest in BRC when they banned WRC cars. The F2 cars and Maxi kit cars were okish, Mark Higgins Astra etc, but that did not last long.

The problem with the Sunseeker being in the BRC - is there is no ANCRO series anymore - so what series could they go to? The BRC is meant to be the premier series and shop window of the sport. Yet, it most definately isn't. Little FWD shopping trolleys at the front of the field - not a great advert for the sport is it?
I actually think the F2 cars were awesome, high-revving FWD buzz boxes - and they were all driven 10 Tenths; Ibiza Kit Car, Megane Maxi, Golf Kit car, Astra Kit car, Proton Satria, Peugeot 106 Maxi, etc I'd say that's the last time the BRC was any good - and with decent events; Vauxhall Rally of Wales, Pirelli, RSAC Scottish, Seat Jim Clark, Ulster, Manx......and they were at least 2 days, not the one day affairs we have now.

And the fact that the Malcolm Wilson rally is only the week after which is the 2nd round of the BTRDA championship.
