Roman Kresta confirmed 6 starts in Czech International Championship with Evo 9 (we have 9 events from which the best 6 are counted). His opening start will be Valasska rally on 28.-29.3. where Pavel Valousek should start too. No other starts were speciffied but I think that Kresta will start on Sumava, Cesky Krumlov, Bohemia, Barum and one another event.

Frankly, I wouldn't say it's good news. Yes, I'm happy to see him on stages but You know... national competition is not what suits his skills. But anyway, it's better than nothing.

Compared with two previous seasons it's good news. Of course Roman's place is behind czech borders, but in actual situation it's nice to see him in national championship then sitting at home or doing some background job for other drivers.

Of course, I would also rather watch him doing full IRC or at least ERC with a proper car, but at least he can fight for the national title now.

Sad news from France !!!!

The french Motorsport federation(FFSA) decided to exclude from all motorsport activities Jean-Marie Cuoq and his codriver for the 2008 season following the infringement at the Var rally and illegal reconnaissance(quite heavy mistakes here)... :(

Cuoq did a big mistake with the illegal reconnaissance and must be punished, sure,, but a complete year with impossibility to drive on rallies(in France and in WRC)is a lot and he will miss to many people(including myself)... :mark:

Wim_Impreza
6th February 2008, 18:06
In the Belgian Rally magazine 'AutoNews', they said that Cuoq had illegal reconnaissance for all the rallies in the French asphalt championship 2007. My opinion is that this is a good conclusion for himself to do it the right way in the future.

Have they concluded that Cuoq lose his both titles in 2007? And what about his victories last year, will he lose them too? What about Patrick Rouillard and the other driver that had an illegal reconnaissance before the Var too?

I don't know it it's unfair Tom...

Rules are rules...
Remember.. Andreucci, Galli, Miguel Campos... etc

Mirek
6th February 2008, 19:44
Autoklub.pl wrote that Cuoq and Rouillard (and their co-drivers) had lost their licences for 24 months (12 probationery) and 15 months (12 probationery). They wrote that Cuoq, Salanon and Rouillard had been excluded from 2007 championship and that new champion is Patric Henry.

Tom206wrc
6th February 2008, 21:57
Autoklub is right... :mark:

Punishment following an infringement, OK, normal, but here they prevent the entire 2008 championship of very good drivers needed by public... :(

Tom206wrc
6th February 2008, 22:44
In fact I've read an article about David Marty(Cuoq's codriver)who explained that on several events of the french tarmac championship they made 5 to 6 passages in reconnaissance, and that's not SO MUCH MORE as they are limited to 4 passages by the FFSA rules, and that most of the other crews had experience of having run already at least once on the entire of each rally !!! :mark:

Hardly to call that a serious cheating finally

But a clear infringement of the reconnaissance rules though...

Cheating is cheating and rules are rules. If Cuoq is so good, then why did he cheat? I don't feel sorry for people like him...

Just my opinion...

According to Autoklub.pl Matthias Kahle will join this year's German championship with Porsche 911 GT3 prepared by Future World! Kahle and Porsche - it doesn't sound bad, does it? ;)

Other drivers that are supposed to drive Porsches in Germany are Olaf Dobberkau, Anton Werner and Heinz Walter Schewe, but of course they are not drivers of the same class as Kahle.

Matthias Kahle and his Skoda in the good old days:

Wow interesting news.
Now the German championship will become fair, since he was the only one with a WRC.
Maybe the DRM will become interesting...it has been pretty weak for the last few years

Mirek
9th February 2008, 19:37
Last year I saw Olaf Dobberkau in our Luzicke hory rallysprint (part of Laussitz pokal) and I was amazed. It was the only time I saw Porsche on rally myself. Especialy the sound was great. But as our regulations doesn't allow GT cars, this year there won't be probably any Porsche even there :(

urabus-denoS2000

Is he driving a 911 or a 996.
I think the 996 is newer(996 is the one with round lights, right?????)

Mirek
9th February 2008, 21:52
Nono, You have a bit mess in it :)

911 is name like for example "Passat" but 996 is exact type (generation) like Passat "B6". The newest 911 is exactly 997 (Valejo). Olaf has 996.

kahles car should be from last future world series 996. since werner is running 4th year with fully gt2 spec (lightweight, more power, sequent. gearbox) and dobberkau has already one season gt3 spec experience - its gonna be difficult for kahle to shine...

He is a serious title contender now that Illiev is not driving the bulgarian championship.
The car is prepared by Tommi Makinen Racing.

You are wrong guys. Krum Donchev didn't withdraw from ERC last year. He was present in the last two rounds (Elpa and Antibes (see photo)) and was classified in the 7th place in the ERC final standings. It's true that his results were not as good as in the previous years as he had many problems with his car after switching from Subaru to Mitsubishi. I guess that's the reason he switches cars agian :) He is a good driver, so all the best for him!

Does anybody know Donchev's detailed starting programme for this year?

He says, everything stays the same, the team, codriver, car, Skoda Hungary as main sponsor. He'll probably switch next year to s2000 with skoda. He'll test the Fabia before Eger Rally in Czech Rebublic.
He doesn't have the budget for the whole season yet, but hoping for that.
About s2000, he says it would fit him, as he loved the kit cars and won also some F2 championship.

Dear colleagues,

we are happy to invite you to the new rally championship in Croatia. The ORC (Open Rally Challenge) starts in town Cazma and takes place from 28.-29. March 2008. To participate in the ORC race, it is not necessary to have the national federation licence, participation is free for all the drivers. The cars are classified in three categories, depending on the engine displacement. The car must bee equipped with all the safety features, such as roll-bar, fire extinguisher, seats and seat belts, etc. The safety features must have a FIA homologation, but it may be expired. On the first ever ORC race, in town Cazma, thirty crews are expected to participate. The entrance fee is 100 kunas (or 136 euros) and it is divided to the best three crews in each class. For more information please visit our internet site www.openrallychallenge.com (http://www.openrallychallenge.com/) or contact us through our e-mail: orco2007@net.hr

]Whan I see Tank-S rally I must say that such "long" stages are something like a bad joke :(

I can understand your reaction. Come and see the rally next year, you will certainly talk different ;)

Meanwhile, it was Mark van Eldik who clinched his first win of the season, and again showed that he is a bit step forward from the rest. Though I expect closer competition for this year. Despite some offs, Peter van Merksteijn Jr. was very promising. Second in his first rally in a Focus WRC.

Tank S Rally Top 6 (Dutch championship and Euro Rally Challenge):

1. Mark van Eldik - Subaru Impreza WRC S12 - 1:12.35
2. Peter van Merksteijn Jr. - Ford Focus 07 +52
3. Harry Kleinjan - Skoda Fabia WRC +1.52
4. Erik Wevers - Ford Focus WRC 06 + 2.48
5. René Kuipers - Subaru Impreza WRC S12 + 3.15
6. Jasper van den Heuvel - Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 + 4.02 (Winner Group N)

Rallysprint went to Jan van der Marel in his Porsche 997 GT3.

And I've been to the rally yesterday. I agree, the stages are rather short but very characteristic too. The dyke stages a great to watch. No need for prejudicing.

The special stages in the Netherlands are most of the time short. When you see the retirement lists from Dutch rallies last year, you see a lot of retirements.

And that's why we haven't competitive drivers in Netherlands. No pressure, to short stages. Mark van Eldik is good here, but we see him on some WRC rallies last year and it is nothing special. Pity Jasper van den Heuvel isn't driving a WRCar, but in N4 he isn't at the top either.

I have high hopes of Weijs jr. He is young and drives this year JWRC in a Citroen C2 max. He is not at the top, but can do some special things, IMO. But we have to wait.
A lot WRCars in Holland is ok, very good! But I see here less future competitive WRC drivers.

I really do not agree with you. The main reason the stages are that short is because it's to hard to organize longer stages. The character of the stages is pretty good, that’s a fact, but it’s definitely not only curves. Actually there are a lot of long straight parts, combined with some short technical and twisty parts. Anyway, 10k’s and less really is nothing. Like Haco said before, real challenging stages are them like you see in Corsica, though that one is getting easier every year.

Vovos will do only gravel rallies this season with the exception of Halkidiki Rally for ERC in which he will do both days (tarmac and gravel). So far no plans for S2000. Evo9 until the summer (Focus WRC 07 - Munchi's, for Acropolis) and most probably Evo10 after it gets its homologation.
