]I think it's "normal" the problems that Hevia had this weekend...
which car don't have problems at all? All the cars have problems! Unfortunately Hevia had problems in a crucial race for the discussion of the title. But that doesn't mean Polo isn't a goo car. I think Polo is a quite good S2000 car... look at the performance of all the season of Havia... ;)
I think that was the ability and determination of Hevia what led him to those results, not the car.

29th October 2007, 20:48
Again a mechanical problem and a retirement for the Polo S2000 at the Rali Mortagua :mark:
is true, the exhaust broke on the cilinder head, we do not know why as it also happened in Spain, is a complete new part that we think is maybe a fabrication welding problem by the supplier. we are checking it at the moment.
Nuno stopped the car as it is no use to make any dammage to the engine or car as there was a risk of fire.

I think that was the ability and determination of Hevia what led him to those results, not the car.
we all know that ALberto Hevia is a very fast driver, and he can make the car perform in any condition. Fiat had a very good car on the last rally but could not folow Alberto who was having some problems from the start but did not let it affect his outstanding performance.

Dutch Euregio Rally has been shut down for the moment. Brittish entrant Richard Felgate/Raymond Lloyd crashed heavily on SS1, which injured the codriver severely. He's in hospital now.
René Kuipers in the Impreza S12 is leading at the moment. It will depend on Lloyd's condition if the rally will continue tomorrow.

He retired after that stage. Forgot to ask the reason for it, but if the rally will continue tomorrow he'll start most likely (super rally). Picture: http://www.klaashuvenaars.com/ShowImage/20071103_1270.jpg
As you can see very bad wheater conditions today.
A serious accident has happened at stage 1. Richard Felgate and Raymond Lloyd - number 58, BMW - went of road and rolled the car. Co driver Lloyd suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital for surgery. The situation is critical. The organisation of the rally cancelled all of today’s stages and it appends on what will happen tonight (with Lloyd in the hospital) if the event will restart tomorrow. I'll try to keep you all up to date.

Denis Kuipers is the son of René Kuipers?
Yes, like Josti said before. Kuipers ‘Junior’ is only 21 years of age and this is his first season as a rally driver. Started at the beginning of this season with a BMW Compact M3 and drove a Wevers prepared Fabia WRC at the Amsterdam Rally, a small event in September. He was in second position (in front of Erik Wevers and a couple of other WRCars) when he retired at the start line of the last stage. Reason for that was that the police forced him to pull over the car, because he was warming up his tyres. Just at normal speed, but still enough to lose his driving license. The Conrad Euregio Rally was his first outing since Amsterdam and of course the first event with his new 207.

Now you talk about an 207 RC. Before the 207 S2000, didn't Peugeot developed an 206 R2 or R3, really I mean 206. It was R2 or R3, does anybody remember, maybe pics?
Peugeot 206 RC was competing in Polish championship with some good results last year. But I don't think it was a R2 or R3 class. Is this the car you mean?

You can't sell something you don't own Eyvind :)
The truth is that Lubiak quit Fiat Poland team and he is just very lucky that he found new sponsors so quickly.
As far as the Punto S2000 is concerned, people from Fiat Poland say they want to continue their rally programme next year, but it is very strange that they are not present on this prestiguous rally.

Oh, it's nothing interesting Simmi. Ludwiczak is an old rally cross driver and the car you ask about is nearly a hand-made machine with a specification that never existed... Barborka Rally is more of a show and the rules are not so strict as in traditional rallies. If you want, you can drive a rally cross car or even a racing car.

]So...
how was Barborka Rally
Very nice! The whole rally was won by Tomasz Kuchar after a fierce battle with Sebastian Frycz (both in Subarus). The last (and most prestigous) stage was won by the old star, Krzysztof Holowczyc who was very disappointed with the stettings of his Subaru Impreza WRC. He said it was very difficult to turn the car around the barrel, because of too much grip and understeering. Both Holowczyc and Kuzaj had punctures on the first stage, so group N cars could win the event.
If you want to see professional footage made by Polish TV from this rally, follow this link. It's a streaming video, so the quality is not excellent, but you can see what it looked like:

You are wrong, Jarek. Barum stopped sponsoring few years ago. With Barum rally he is continuing, but is giving lower amount of money... When was Barum "eaten" by Continental, all sponsorship to motorsport was stopped (except Barum rally) and - what is more important - producing of sporting tyres was stopped. The same situation is now with Matador... And Continental is giving money to football... :vader:

Update from The Netherlands:
Wevers Sport bought two ‘06 Focus WRCars for the upcoming season. The first car will arrive in March and will be driven by Erik Wevers himself. A second car will arrive one month later and René Kuipers, who currently drives a Subaru WRC S12, will be the driver of this car. Both drivers will compete in the brand new Euro Rally Challenge, containing two events in The Netherlands, two in Belgium and two in Germany. Other Dutch drivers which are named to drive in this Challenge are Mark van Eldik (Subaru WRC S12), Harry Kleinjan (Fabia WRC evo 2) John Temmink (who recently purchased a Fabia WRC evo 2) and Ger Haverkate (Octavia WRC evo 3).
VM Motorsport, probably best known for Peter van Merksteijn Senior’s World Rally Championship outings in a Focus RS WRC 06 last season, have announced the calendar for next season:
Uddeholm Swedish Rally (WRC)
Tank S Rally (The Netherlands)
Jordan Rally (WRC)
Rallye d’Italia Sardegna (WRC)
Neste Oil Rally Finland (WRC)
ADAC Rallye Deutschland (WRC)
Hellendoorn Rally (The Netherlands)
Rallye de Espana (WRC)
Rally Japan (WRC)
Conrad Euregio Rally ‘(The Netherlands)
Wales Rally GB (WRC)
Peter van Merksteijn Junior, Who took the Dutch Group N Championship in his first full rally season last year, will drive a Focus RS WRC 06. Last year he was co-driven by Belgian Eddy Chevaillier, upcoming co-driver for Francois Duval. Most likely Chevaillier will co-drive Van Merksteijn Junior in the events Duval won’t take part in. Van Merksteijn Senior is expected to do some of the events named above in a similar Focus.

Of course it was a financial decision. They couldn't afford a top wrc, so they decided to switch to group N, where they had success before.
There is a possibilty that wrc cars will be banned from 2009 in Hungary, so I think more pilots will switch to s2000 or group N this year...
