I know the difference between Gerhard and Andreas Aigner ;-)).
Andreas Aigner is on the entry list with Fabia R5 but he will drive Fiesta WRC from TamAuto

Good luck!
Unfortunately luck was not on our side. After very promising start (6th place on second stage) we had flat tyre on 3rd stage, loosing two minutes. But then came the 6th stage - we changed the rear right tyre (which was of course cold) and after one km in the stage, at app 140 km/h in easy left curve, the car started to slide. We hit a stone.....and started the Roll-o-coaster......two salts, landing on the wheels. Luckily no injures, just a headache.
One lesson for me-never again sitting in a car with old, worn out tyres.

Of course Baumschlager will strike back, when he knows the car better - even if he had the opportunity to test. And I think he didn´t want to throw the car away again, not on the first rally with Polo WRC.
But this time a big win for Neubauer!

It is very close after the first day of the Ózd Rally, 2nd round of the Hungarian Championship. Hadik leads by 4.8 before Vincze and 13.5 before Herczig (who had problems), but Velenczei in the i20 is not far in 4th either. Today's big story was Ollé's huge crash, they went off into some trees at around 130-140 km/h, the engine was ripped from the car, but thankfully both he and his co-driver are mostly fine, although Ollé was brought to the hospital after feeling dizzy.

I wasn't expected such pace from Gryazin, and doesn't look like Kalle was off pace. Last year Talsi was ~13km shorter, Kalle was 2nd, and difference from 3rd was ~20sec, this year Kalle also 2nd, difference from 3rd ~1min40sec. So Kalle and Gryazin far far ahead. They drive 3 rallies this year and all times Kalle was faster a lot. Aluksne 1:38:1; Sarma 38:4; Vaakuna 48.7. It seems N. Gryazin improving quite fast.
dimviii
20th May 2017, 18:10
Rovanpera had a small problem at last stage start, there is a video
https://twitter.com/KalleRovanpera
Yes, that glitch cost him the victory.
But N. Gryazin was awarded with 10 seconds penalty for incorrect passing of chicane in ss4 (don't know, if he had some significant gain from it) and it was announced only before SS9. So, there could be some speculations about, how it might have come out, if he knew that right away.
Nontheless, in SS9/10 (same stage, driven twice), there was immense battle between them. We stood on the insade of veeeery fast Right 2 (with some few hundred meters of strights before/after), Gryazin came flat out both times, not lifting at all. Kalle backed off, just a little, but still. Fearsome moment when you are on the trackside.
On city SS, Kalle looked more smooth, but Gryazin was faster on strights. In the end it came down to driver error.
But through the rally, Gryazin constantly posted faster times than Kalle, so there is something to it.
At least, I know, I must attend their next head to head race.

It doesn't look like a proper gravel event, more like an off-road event. I can not imagine what would like to be in rain....mud mud mud.....
Actually, these stages are the smoothest gravel stages in Hungary. The pictures were taken on one stage, a former military training ground next to Szombathely, which has about 3 big jumps. The roads there see little traffic during the year, that's why it's so grassy and seems unused. The other stages in the forests are wide and very smooth, as they're used by big forestry trucks. Some drivers like the stages as they're not killing the cars like the stages around Veszprém, but some hate their characteristics (long straight->sharp corner->long straight->sharp corner->...).

If I heard well, the codriver called a note late or something like that, it wasn't Mundl's fault this time.

Baumschlager crash at 190kmh. It seems Polo are destroyed
http://www.brr.at/presse/presseberichte/presse/detail/fehler-im-schrieb-fuehrt-zu-ueberschlag/
Short summary: He did not crash at 190 km/h. They were driving flat out when the codriver made his error, but managed to lower the speed significant before going of the road. The car rolled over an earth wall and damage is not too big.
Seeing Baumschlager on highspeed stage 1, I'm quite he would have been very very strong here. But it was quite chaotic rally, so many accidents and technical problems for top drivers.
There in the back you can see the Polo. Aigner went off on the same spot and also Neubauer had a small off there.https://scontent-vie1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/19260485_2024983304437298_5865426309802048632_n.jp g?oh=57915bb6f8196410409e290c451f67ae&oe=59E166F0https://scontent-vie1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/19260753_2024983441103951_911043745565485025_n.jpg ?oh=5909018b49d2bcc89cb81b54c74f8246&oe=59C9A1C0https://scontent-vie1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/19424124_2024983801103915_3821221405218341951_n.jp g?oh=3277108657fee22dd037e9a794a77714&oe=59DBC5C4https://scontent-vie1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/19247821_2024984154437213_7223836444531230622_n.jp g?oh=a9b368806bbd4cbfef61cb59fe3c7d08&oe=59C53ACD

Baumschlager had a spin in SS 12 and lost some seconds, but the huge time loss in SS13 / 14 was due technical problems - break failure - no brakes in the back.

4th round of Turkish Rally Championship acts at Bursa this weekend.
Favorites of the rally was Burak Cukurova(BCvision Motorsport Fabia R5), Orhan Avcioglu (Tok sport Fiesta R5)and Yagiz Avci (Munaretto Racing 208 R5).
At the hard gravel surface of Bursa Cukurova finish the first day with Topp Cars run Fabia R5 2,5 seconds lead over Avci.
Avcioglu was out at the very first stage with an engine problem.
Ugur Soylu driving another Topp Car run Fabia R5 but pressure on the leading two with his first gravel with Skoda.
Cukurova leave the morning service with two minute late because of an urgent rear crossmember change and drop to second palcewith 17,5 second margin.
With a great speed at four stages Cukurova win the rally over Avci and also win extra power stage points.
I will forward the final results soon :)

In Austria now two thirds of the season are over, with just 2 rallys remaining. Baumschlager with Polo WRC is only third in championship. He had 2 accidents this year after years without retiring. Either he has problems in adapting to Polo WRC, or the other drivers like Neubauer and Mayr-Melnhof became faster, as for Mayr-Melnhof this surely is a fact.

According Raimund it was his last Rallye in Polo, he cannot blame officialy, but I heard that he was just not able to make the Pirellis work properly on the Polo.
On the other side there were 4 exactly same stages this year and last year (conditions, length and direction), Hermann was about 1sec/km faster on them then last year, he is superconfident at the moment, and I think Baumschlager just can´t raise his Speed with an age of almost 60 years.
For me personally it was a nice home rallye, first time codriving Fabia S2000, great car, great fun!

Why did Asunmaa and Salo drive Imprezas instead of their usual R5 cars?
In media was written, that Asunmaa's car can't be prepared properly because Rally Finland is only one week before, and about Salo don't know. I could be due cost - it's cheaper rallying for fun with Subaru. Basically everyone in guests category waving to crowd and have good time. Also Samsonas has connections with Finnish Subaru tunners, where he started few rallies with Subaru, so maybe they helped to invite Salo and Asunmaa and also delivered cars. Both of them entrant was Jukka Hara - maybe this name familiar to you?

I read a Finnish interview where Salo says the rally organizer had prepared them rental Subarus, tyres, everything ready, and just invited them to drive. Salo and Asunmaa have been doing business with Samsonas, so probably related to that.

This is worth mentioning. Yesterday 1 month 1 week before 50th anniversary "Saaremaa Rally" (Estonia) was the first date for entries. So after 24 hours number of entrants hit the 94 already! http://autosport.ee/rallyreg/?page=27&race_id=392&lang_id=2&
Could be some kind of record in terms of applying speed? :)

Baumschlager was in a league of his own at Rallye Liezen. Never really on the limit, but controlled his lead through the rallye without any problems. Neubauer was clearly overdriving it.
The package Baumschlager-Polo seems to work now. A thrilling final battle at Rallye Waldviertel will decide the championship between Baumschlager, Neubauer and Mayr-Melnhof - but my money now is clear on Baumschlager with all his experience there.

Another win for Ares and the i20 in Spain; they’re now pretty close to the title. Garcia was a disappointment (P5) and Vynies a surprise; the Suzuki N5 driver was the major opposition for Ares, entering the last stage just 3.8s behind! Another retirement for Fuster in the Clio N5 and a nice performance for Muniz in the 124 RGT; P7, ahead all 2wd cars.

Garcia had a great season start (3 wins almost in a row) but since Ourense he has been a bit irregular. According to the news, at Llanes wet stages he was still suffering from the previous rally accident at Asturias and after seeing Ares strongly leading the event he decided to ease up the pace and save the car for his WRC2 debut, next week at Catalunya.

Yes it was. There was 194km/h speed in that corner, it was very tricky, all others in front of them nearly avoid crashes. Impact was very heavy, car landed three times on side/bottom corner, wheels made big holes and also side skirts made some small ditch between them. Crew with some injuries, as mentioned in article, there is another crew's onboard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HHgwHB8KZ0&t=0s that place about 1:15, car went off near the road sign, and stopped near farmhouse. It was gravel rally with gravel tires/suspensions, in those rallies tarmac sections could be very dangerous.

First unofficial information was that the event will cover more than 215 stage kilometers, which is not only for the WRC cars but also for a lot of privateers way too much, especially as the rally is already very expensive in comparison to other events. We will see when there comes some official information. Other events in ORM this year had 125-190 planned km, most about 150.

Focus206 already listed it: Ares/Pintor in the i20 are the new spanish champs. They’ve won Rally Santader ahead of Burgo’s Fabia R5 and Vynies Swift N5. Garcia was absent (he recognized his title chances were slim) and Fuster suffered steering issues in the Clio.
During the season, Ares (a former 911 driver from Galicia) did a pretty good job, showing great speed and consistency, while Garcia, despite some initial advantage, was far from last year domination in the Evo R4+. Local N5’s showed huge progress against R5’s, with several stages wins; it wouldn’t be a surprise if they manage to get an overall win on the final events.

This weekend in Rallye Waldviertel (gravel) still 3 teams are in the fight for ÖRM-title (Neubauer, Fiesta WRC, leading 2 points ahead of Baumschlager, Polo WRC, Mayr-Melnhof just theoretical chances first time in DS3 WRC), also in 2WD 3 teams fighting for the title (Wollinger in Clio R3 is favorite, Kogler, DS3 R3 and Julian Wagner,Adam R2).
The itinerary is a bit short (125 SSkm) this year, but i hope it will be a close fight and the fastest will be champion in the end. It would be Baumschlagers 13th title, or Neubauers 2nd. For me Baumschlager is favourite, he won Waldviertel 8 times so far, Neubauer competed there 2012 last time.

Now ss9 finished for the top drivers, Baumschlager in the lead since 5 stages, 5 more stages left. I think that Baumschlager will win this and score his 14th title. Neubauer threw it away on his own (once more), especially at Rallye Liezen.

It is not over at all. Neubauer is just 3.2 seconds behind, he lost 4,7 seconds in the 2 sss on the rallycross track. IT will be decided most likely on the 2 long stages in the afternoon (Manhartsberg 1&2, 18,3km).
Great rallye for Julian Wagner so far, he will be 2WD champion if he stays first and Daniel Wollinger not better than 4th (at the moment only dissapointing 6th place). Michael Kogler still have chances as well, 28 seconds behind on 2nd place.
Also nice pace by Niki Mayr-Melnhof, only 12,6 seconds behind Baumschlager.
Edit: Neubauer now in the lead, 1,3 seconds ahead.

What a thriller!
Baumschlager leads with 2.8 seconds over Neubauer, 2 stages to go.
If both will drive the same time than in first pass, Baumschlager would win with an margin of 0.2 seconds.

Little trivia: according to my calculations, with this title Baumschlager equals Mats Jonsson at the second place for most national championships won, with 14. First place is the late Attila Ferjancz with 16 Hungarian championships.

Ready to share, no. But I have a list of national champions of various countries, I just have to manually count :D I can share that list, if anyone is interested (not 100% correct, very probably)
I can tell:
Attila Ferjancz 16
Raimund Baumschlager, Mats Jonsson 14
Roger Feghali 13
Franz Wittmann, John Buffum, Sarel Van der Merwe 11

I count 5 for Kyrkos (1994, 1996, 1998, 2006, 2007). Giorgos Moschous has 8, most titles in Greece.

Which leads to the following question... Why, when I said that Baumschlager was going to defeat Neubauer, were there some forum members here who said that I was "silly", what I said was "funny", I didn't know "what I was talking about" and that I should be disqualified?
Mundl is obviously too old for this change (R5>WRC)....the championship is over for him....funny, how were some guys on this forum loud and 100% that he will "destroy" Neubauer.....who should be a "victim of his WRC desire".
Wasn't I right, Ucci? ;)
i was very surprised by this real stupid comment, i always thougt you know what you talking about, but with this comment you disqualified yourself....
Daniel, is my diqualification over? ;)

Jarek,
you said Neubauer lacks talent. For me without talent it´s impossible to challenge a 14 time champion in an fully works supported latest spec Polo, with an 5 year old Fiesta, until the very last stage of the season (where a driveshaft brake). Please note also that it was the second technical issue for Neubauer (in Schneebergland he had engine failure, 0 Points), Baumschlager had not a single technical Problem.
At the end the best Team won, but just saying...
