Two months till start of Croatian Championship:
Rally season in Croatia starts in Kumrovec fourth consecutive year. Narrow special stages with many crests are known as most difficult in Croatian Championship represent the real challenge for all the crews. Rally Kumrovec of 2014. brings 75 kilometers of special stages set up in accordance with the highest safety standards by the FIA??. Vehicles with expired homologation (such as WRC) are allowed as well as Historic cars. The maximum number of entrants is fixed at 80 vehicles. Classes are assigned as follows:
Class 1 cars (S2000, R4, R5, RGT, N4)
Class 2 cars (A7,S1600, R2C, R3C, R3T, R3D)
Class 3 cars (A6, R2B, Kit-car from 1400 ccm till 1600 ccm, N3)
Class 4 cars (A5, Kit-car till 1400 ccm , N2, R1B, N1, R1A)
Class 5 cars (Kup S1, S2, S3, Historic)
Entry fees are fair, and give an opportunity to old WRC owners from surrounding countries to compete on demanding stages.
Special feature for the crews is promotional driving, during which their sponsors or fans can experience a co-driver role. In comparisson to the last year, the Super special stage is to be held on Friday, 28th of March in Terme Tuhelj.
Rally Kumrovec was once more, second consecutive year voted the best rally organized in Croatia. The award for season 2013 granted by the Croatian Automobile and Karting Association was recieved by representatives of the AC Delta Sport at a ceremony in Vodice on January 25th. The resulting award is to be justified in this year. Therefore, the working versions of the Suplementary Regulations and Safety plan are already submitted for certification to the ASN. Publication of the Suplementary Regulations is provided for not later than 20th of February 2014 - a month before the closing of entry applications.
Last year 45 crews competed on Rally Kumrovec. A total of 28 reached the finish podium. After two consecutive wins of Hungarian driver Janosz Szilagyi with co-drivers Viktoria Zejda (in 2011) and Botond Csanyi (in 2012), in year 2013 Daniel Saskin and Damir Bruner celebrated the victory in their cameo appearance in Kumrovec.

Hello to everyone from Croatia! I want to show you video from "4. Rally Show
Santa Domenica" held in Sveta Nedjelja (Croatia) on 24.11.2013.
It was a circuit gravel race with 4WD, FWD and RWD cars, one buggy and few
Dacar rally cars. For me, one of the most attractive cars was Lada VFTS with
Hungarian drivers and one Croatian Crew (Škali?).
Rally was open almost to everyone because drivers was allowed to compete
without possession of National Automobile Federation license. Intention of
rally show was to get closer to spectators and general public. I think that
was one of the most viewed rally event in Croatia!
I hope you will enjoy the video!

First round of newly established championship in Bulgaria for Rally Sprint was held last saturday around Samokov, 6 stages in total, 3 uphill, repeated downhill. Lot of slush, conditions with which many crews were not comfortable, some of them even didn't have proper tyres, some didn't pass scrutineering with technical problems, some barely finished. Ignat Isaev with Mitsu Evo IX had the courage to push and won showing some nice driving. There were some drivers returned to Bulgarian Rally stages, like Nikolay Zlatkov after many years and Rumen Dunev after few.

Can anyone from the Nederlands tell me which championship is the official Dutch one?
Open Nederlands Rally Kampioenschap (ONRK) or Rallyclinic Nederlands Rally Kampioenschap (RNRK)?
Thanks! :)
Wim_Impreza
11th March 2014, 20:33
Open Nederlands Rally Kampioenschap (ONRK) or in English Open Dutch Rally Championship is the official 'international' Dutch championship. Strange enough is that the Rallyclinic Nederlands Rally Kampioenschap has exactly the same calendar with one rally more (the Autosoft Vechtdal Rally), but it is the Division 2 of the Dutch rallies.
There is also a Division 3, which is called 'Account Software Short Rallykampioenschap'. That are much shorter rallies and they are only in the Netherlands.
Here you can see all the calendars of Dutch rallies this year: http://www.knaf.nl/rally/6-kampioenscha ... -2014.aspx (http://www.knaf.nl/rally/6-kampioenschappen/kampioenschapkalender-2014.aspx)

Yes, there are some foreign drivers taking part in the opening round of the Dutch championship thanks to the West-European Cup. However, there won't be any WRC cars on the start this weekend, for the first time in quite while for a Dutch round. The battle will be between a lot of Evo's (Van den Heuvel, Kooijman, Van Hoof, etc) and maybe Kragh in his 207 S2000.

Interesting that somebody is asking for more Lancers. Here we had Mitsu cup for years (since WRC cars were banned before 2006) and people were really bored with them. Only the S2000 saved the show when they started to come. Lancers are good but only with very top drivers (but those make any car spectacular), otherwise they are incredibly boring cars with no sound and we still have tons of them here...

Lucky you Mirek....In Slovenia-due to deep recesion-we do not have almost nothing....I would love to see 4-5 drivers fighting for championship in N4/R4 in Slovenia.
N4 car is boring on your stages, in Slovenia, where every stage is twisted, up and down, full of gravel....it is still much better than few R2&R3 (just one, actually...)....

Why were there no WRC's at Tank S Rally? usually there's at least 5
MartijnS
18th March 2014, 09:29
Cause no WRC driver is interested in the championship this year. For example Dennis Kuipers didn't start because there were no others starting. Most of the WRC drivers in the last few years have been caught by the Dakar virus. Probably later this year there will start some in the ELE Rally, Hellendoorn Rally.

Does anyone know the specifications of these cars and changes from the 'road' Mitsubishi Evo specification?
Which would be faster; the Argentine 'Maxi' car or the European 'Proto' car in equal conditions/ driver?

I was spectating (managed to see four stages) this event, we were lucky with the weather. Gassner junior is more than deserved winner, he was constantly the fastest, even from the eye of spectators....it is nice to see a top-driver in N4 car, because those cars are still very attractive (a lot of sliding), but if all fast drivers are behind the steering wheel of S2000 & R5&RRC cars, then N4&R4 group is unattractive for spectators.
The fastest local driver, no surprise ofcourse-Alex Humar With Clio R3. And again very fast, attractive driving of Rok Turk with a tiny P208 R2, second place for our championship.
Bigggest disappointment : turkish driver Avci. He looked kind of ''lost'' on the stages...More than two minutes behind winner is something not to be proud of it....with Mini RRC...

It was my first time there and I was impressed by the great stages. Also a thing that I guess is unique is the service park in the parking place below the stadium and the SS1 which starts inside there. That offers a great sound when you are inside there (especially the Porsche from Thull was really loud). The sunny weather also made it great with the dust in the gravel sections ;-)

I tried some things with the GoPro for the first time with 120fps, looks really good I think ;-)
It was two rallies in one, Yiippi Sprintrally on Friday and Kärnten Rally on Saturday. Kramer also won the Saturday event, but got disqualified after the race. Impressive was Günther Knobloch with a 3rd place and a stage win in his first rally. Unfortunately he had a technical problem on Saturday morning. For me as spectator it was a great event, as I could see 4 stages completely each day.

All the greek crews that are battling for the title will start in the rally, as long as some Cypriot guys. A surprise driver will make his come back in this rally with a "surprise" car! Next round of the danish rallies championship this coming week-end ;)
http://www.rallyresult.dk/
Being called "Peugeot Rally" Christian Jensen must only win this one :D
Seeing as the naming sponsor of the rally is competing (Brian Madsen is the local area Peugeot dealer and he's the sponsor, not Peugeot Denmark), I'd say he should have the incentive more so than Christian. :-)
Brian is entered in the same Friulmotor 207 S2000 that he won the championship in, so all he lacks is recent driving experience. This year he has done one heat without power steering at a rallysprint in his 306 Maxi, that's all.
As an info, the event has 55 entries, which is around double what any other championship event has had this year. As a board member of the organising club, I'm very happy! It should be a great event, plenty of stage kilometres and a worthy lone representative for rallying east of Jutland this year.
I'll be at the service park both Friday for shakedown and Saturday for the race, hope to update here if anything major were to happen.

Last weekend there was a short Dutch rally, only 6 hours from start to finish and 8 nice stages from where I visited 5 stages to film.
Enjoy the footage!

So Christian Jensen won the "Peugeot Rally" for 4" only to IB Kragh ;)
What was Brian Madsen problem about "benzin"

Despite of its great gravel stages, the demanding Schneebergland Rallye always had small entries.
The named drivers was missing due to various reasons: Neubauer (injury), Brugger (final school exams), Saibel (asphalt preference),...
But be sure for the next round Rallye Weiz (August 8th-9th) there will be a quality and quantity lineup as in the earlier 2014 events.
Next event: Rallye Weiz, www.rallye-weiz.at (http://www.rallye-weiz.at)

Neubauer entered, but is still injured. Brugger does just some rallies, not the whole championship. Danzinger on Stohl´s 207 S2000 seemed to be just a one off, last weekend Delecour was competing with this car on Rally Transsilvania, Romanian championship.

So Christian Jensen won the "Peugeot Rally" for 4" only to IB Kragh ;)
What was Brian Madsen problem about "benzin"
Christian does have the faster car, and seemed to have the edge all day.
There were a lot of retirements, but very few accidents, which is of course a good thing.
We did however have a massive crash during the shakedown event Friday night, both driver and his passenger (a sponsor) were kept overnight, but released Saturday with no major injuries. The car (306 Maxi) supposedly is a write-off, but the driver has vowed to rebuild it patiently.
Brian had an issue with the fuel supply about 500 metres from the end of stage 9. Haven't heard anything official from him, but unconfirmed rumours said 'no fuel = no fuel supply', but I am in no way sure that is true. Fact is, it went no further.
All in all, it was a good day, some very challenging stages combined with a lot of speed, plenty of spectators on the stages to watch the cars - and we had the mayor out to do a ceremonial start in the city centre.. between service 1 and stage 4. :D
Kim Madsen was excluded post-race for an engine non-conformity, but that has since been rescinded, as the method of measuring was apparently not applicable to the geometry of the 208 R2 engine.
Championshipwise, it's in Ibs hands, he just needs to finish second in the rallies and on the points-paying stage, then he's champion. Realistically, it's Ib's to lose, Christian Jensen as the biggest contender, and Tim Svanholt ready to pounce if the other two have issues.. like he won it last year. The rest are basically gone.
Kenneth Madsen will win Tuned National for the third year running in the same car unless all hell breaks loose, only the much-improved Jesper Troels-Smith in the not-so-flash-for-rallying Peugeot RCZ has a mathematical chance.
Kim Madsen took the lead in 2WD by winning, 6 points ahead of Klaus Hammer, with Jacob Jensen in a 208 a further 9 point behind. Should be interesting, as Hammer has a much faster car, but Kim (and Jacob) are better drivers, especially since Hammer still is not comfortably after his massive crash last year.
Kasper Nyman should win Standard National, and that's all that needs to be said about that division.
Next round is in Odder, just south of the second-largest city Aarhus.
It's not until September 6th, and is supposedly going to be a 'test-event' for a proposed format change for the Danish championship, which would allow drivers to show up Saturday morning for recce and go home Saturday night with trophies. Not sure if I'm a fan, personally, but it should be interesting to see.
Long summer holiday now, so plenty of time to fix the broken cars! :)

Entrylist of Waldviertel-Rallye in Austria will be published today. There will be at about 10 S2000/R5 cars, because it also counts for Hungarian championship and last round of European rally throphy, even if many Austrian top drivers are not starting (which is a shame, the same at Jänner Rallye).

Really great entry list, yes, especially on saturday with run for Hungarian championship. At about 15 S2000/R5 cars, which is nearly the same as at Jänner rallye in the last years. Will be there too on Saturday.

The last round of the Dutch championship was this weekend, won by Jeroen Swaanen with a Fiesta R5. It wasn't a very great entry, and the fact Condroz was this weekend as well didn't help.
Kevin van Deijne won the champinship in the Fiesta Trophy, but star of the season has been Mats van den Brand. He won all 5 rounds he entered, but because of a strange rule he didn't become champion. If he had won all stages he would have been, but he missed out on 1 stage by 0,1 second. Anyway, he finished 6th overall and even set a 3th fastest time overall on the last stage.

Piet van Hoof in his Evo. There were no real championship contenters this year. In fact, it was quite a weak season. All major drivers only did a couple of events.

Thank you :) Yes I noticed that. What are Dennis Kuipers and Van Merksteijn Jr up to? They're not interested in the championship?

I don't know exactly, Kuipers main effort this year was to return to WRC in Germany and France. Van Merksteijn wanted to do Dakar, but that won't happen next year. Van Loon and Ten Brinke are also focussing on Dakar. Bob de Jong only did a couple of events in the Netherlands, most of them in Belgium. Swaanen only started in his local rally in a C4 WRC, after that he did the East Belgian Rally and last weekend the Euregio Rally with the Fiesta R5.

What's the difference between ONRK and RNRK?
The ONRK (Open Nederlands Rally Kampioenschap) is the 'main' championship, the open, international one. World Rally Cars are allowed.
The RNRK does not allow World Rally Cars and is focussed more on Group N. Also, some smaller events in the country only count for the RNRK and not for the ONRK. Usually every 'bigger' events hosts boths championships.
It's a bit of a strange situation, these are the only differences I know. :)

The worst score from a Dutch rally will be scrapped. The calendar consisted of 5 Dutch events, 1 German en 2 Belgian. Van Deijne started in 6 events, Van den Brand in 5. Because he won all events he entered, Van den Brand's worst score was a victory, so 25 points. Van Deijne could scrap 'only' 12 points. Theoretically, if Van den Brand had started 1 more event at which he retired after 1 meter, he would have been champion.
http://www.imgdumper.nl/uploads8/5457b65c1c484/5457b65c14b69-fiesta_trophy.png
By the way, both Van Deijne and Van den Brand will contest the D-Mack shootout later this year. The winner will get a WRC2 start in a Fiesta R5 on 1 round next season. Timo van der Marel will be there as well. :)

They also scored point for the scratches if I'm correct..
Therefore van Deijne took 1 point extra in Hengelo due to the 1 scratch.

I didn't understand a thing....Would be champion if he had won all scratches? Did you get extra point by setting fastest times in all the scratches in every single rally or just in super special like in Wrc?

Here are the tables;

Normally 20/15/12
Van Deijne didnt drive a single scratch so no scratch points in GTC I think.

Apparently there's a seperate 'stage win result' after each rally. The one with the most stage wins gets 5 points, 2nd 3 points, 3rd 1 point.
So like Martijn said, in GTC Van Deijne finished 2nd but was out of the top 3 in the scratch standings.
