Good news, a few years ago he was a great talent on the Austrian rally scene.

Surprising for me is that Jozef Béreš jr. drives an Octavia WRC. Will he do the full Slovak championship with this car?

The entry list for the first round of the Greek championship (Olympiako Rally, gravel, this weekend) was announced

I don't know about the drivers, but cars fleet is not bad. Who would say that Greece is in a state of economical crisis after seeing this list? ;)

I agree, but I wanted to see at least one S2000 car in Greece this year (apart from Corsa S2000 of Kaltsounis). Kaltsounis prefered to take part in the rally, driving a historic Opel Kadett GTE. New S2000 car? Unfortunatly not. This Peugeot 207 will be driven by Andrej Skrbinšek in hillclimb championship. Is a front drive car, S2000 engine and S2000 bodyshell. Why this combination? I think the main reason is lack of money, so the car was build by Slovenian Urbančič Motorsport ... ;)

After the first loop (4/8 stages) of Olympiako rally, the Cypriot Nicos Thomas is leading the rally...

Aris Vovos is the winner of 32 Olympiako rally. Thomas retired in SS6.

There was a very nice battle between Vovos and Thomas, but unfortunately, the Cypriot retired...Thomas wants to do all the rounds of the greek championship. There were many retirements in the rally. From 47 starters, only 18 reached the end. Next round is Rally Korinthou (17-18 April).

do these stages differ from typical dutch stages they seem to be running along side motorways, also is that a petrol station that the cars are passing through

The stages are pretty typical at this rally.
They drive a lot at twisty dikes and thats indeed a petrol station of the company, that is the main sponsor of the rally.

this was more of an event of tough luck ,hard luck and some drive by Ali Fisher

was great to see the Great Fisher name back at 1st O/a on an irish tarmac championship event after leg 1 last night

gareth mchale was plauged with the car stalling all weekend tim Mcnulty went off on ss13 while on a big charge,aron mchale was off on the first stage and Craig Breen got caught of after the heavy rains came yesterday while richard chatcart lost out on Gpn and 5th O/A when the diff let go on the last junction of the last stage.
Marty McCormack lost 4 mins with an off and handed the c2s to mark donnelly

Derek Magarrity kept his head and went on a charge today in the S12 and with the dry stages overhalled ali Fisher a puncture didnt help his case.

So as per usual the Circuit of ireland proved a tough event

Last time I was at Rundkurs Mosern Eitweg and I really didn't like it . I will now give this rally a second chance ;)

You definitely should! There are great places on Rundkurs Mosern Eitweg as well...
You can find a overview map at least on the homepage of 2004 edition (although some stages are different)

So, after first day in Lavantal, Andreas Aigner is in the lead with his Mitsubishi Evo X, in front of Baumschlager. It is surprise to me that he is faster with Gr.N car then the Skoda Fabia S2000 of Raymund. :)

He tried Vitor's 207 S2000 yesterday and he was amazed at the car, so I guess he dosen't want to compete again in a group N car. So if he comes back, perhaps only with a S2000.

He won the only rally he made so far this year, the first round of the portuguese Open championship.

I´m quite sure he will do Portugal and Azores Rallye. It would be great if he ran with a S2000 in Azores. :eek:

Yust came back from Lavanttal Rally in Austria, some words about this event: the biggest surprise to me is A.Aigner. He drove really on the limit-he was very spectacular, sideways, fast...the car (evoX) is performing like a true race car-no body roll, brutal acceleration, he should win, but a mistake on the SS6 cost him some time and the old-fox Baumschlager immediately took the advantage of this and won.Also P.Winter with evo 9 was incredibily spectacular, maybe even to much sliding, but from spectacor view :) :)!!

Just came back from Lavanttal and words cannot describe the driving of Patrick Winter , maximum respect to him ! Also the finish of Prebl is really fantastic , thanks to everyone who reccomended it to me . Also nice pace from Alex Humar , 2nd every rally in an GrN car

BPRallye in Lavanttal: I was very surprised from the pace of Aigner (he deserved the win!) and Winter, Slovenian championship: Alex Humar is fast in Impreza too (his first real race and - first victory) and Marko Jeram almost the best in 2WD category with Ford Fiesta ST!! :eek:

BPRallye in Lavanttal: I was very surprised from the pace of Aigner (he deserved the win!) and Winter, Slovenian championship: Alex Humar is fast in Impreza too (his first real race and - first victory) and Marko Jeram almost the best in 2WD category with Ford Fiesta ST!! :eek:

Marko is great driver for sure but don't forget that fastest 2WD guys had various problems and mostly retired (Danzinger, Šlehofer, Kogler) ;)

Last weekend here in Greece, we had the 3rd round of the Greek National Gravel Rally Cup.
It was a Rally Sprint. 1ss (16.4 kms) x 3 times, total 49,2 kms.

I am so happy that through the economic crisis, we managed to do the event and leave all competitors with the best memories. We are a small club, Motorsports Club of Halkidiki, and it was our 1st ever event!

The rally centre was the resort of Porto Carras, most people know it for being the headquarters of ELPA Rally when that took place in Halkidiki.
With our small resources we managed to offer 2 nights for free at Porto Carras for every crew.
Also it was my first attempt in organising a rally sprint and I have to say it is a very interesting side of rallying.

24 cars entered the rally, and along our 1st international entry, Stratieva/Milanova with Citroen C2, who managed to finish the rally with tarmac suspension and tarmac tyres with cuts!!!!

Greek multichampion Aris Vovos won the rallysprint with his Evo9.
Hope next year we have more entries and we believe to attract even more international entries maybe as test for Elpa and Acropolis? :)
(Janne Tuohino with his Fiesta S2000 used our ss for 2 day test around a month ago)

Some words about Rally Saturnus 2010. Pech was just too fast for our guys - he is really a crazy driver. :crazy:
Our Humar was fantastic - this rally was only his 3. race in Impreza. Some more racing kilometers and he will be the man to beat. ;)
Great performance by Behalek, Šlehofer, I am only sorry for Jeram, Slejko and Petrič. They are really fast guys, but they faced mechanical problems. ;(

Rally Maribor is in the same date as Rally Bohemia. I think that INA Sport (Elan Importer) is his sponsor only for Kopná. Frankly I don't think he will drive anything more than Czech championship and possibly few WRC events.

In SS1 Andreas Mikkelsen couldn't catch the local guys :)

Andreas was impressed by the speed of the local drivers.
But his Impreza was a N4-light car(its not a real N4-car) had only topspeed of 175 . ss1 and ss2 was extremely fast stages.
The Lancer Evos had several times reached 195 on the stages he was told.

Andreas had never competed on the stages before so he was very pleased.

He had a few scary moments, when he had a puncture before the end of one stage and just after the finish of the stage the wheel decided to leave the car :-) you can see it here (30 sek after the start of the video)

Vida was driven last week. Winner is Iliev (Skoda Fabia S2000), second is Peter Goshev (EVO IX), third Krum Donchev (Peugeot 207 S2000).

Dont worry, In many national championships drivers have to declare the reason of retirement. You could clearly see that it was technical problem:-) Something was broken on the front right :-P
I have seen a car that rolled and then hit the tree and the reason of the retirement was of course cooling system failure :-) Because the radiator was also broken :-P

Continuing that topic.. In last Estonian Championship rally, Tallinn Ralli.. The youngest participant was Allan Popov. He is currently 16 years old. One week before the rally he crashed into the electricity pole and destroyed the front end of the car: http://rally.ee/?a=a022&b=136376&p=1

Somehow his team managed to repair his Civic Type -R in less that one week. But the joke was that he had a puncture at the first part of the second real stage. He stopped in front of me on the outside fast corner and they decided to change a wheel.

Co-driver took the new wheel and driver jacked the car and suddenly they found that they didn't had a suitable wrench for the wheel nuts. Then one spectator offered his wrench (which is of course not allowed but he was not fighting for the win anyway), it was with the right size but the wheel nuts were so long that it was not possible to use that one. So, then after about 6 minutes they finally managed to collect all the stuff and continue driving, still without front right tire (tire flew completely away).

Somehow they reach till the end of the stage and to the service and also nearly until the end of the rally. They retired at the start of the last spectator stage, because he stalled the engine at the start-line and he could not restart it anymore. The start was uphill and marshals pushed him until the cars started but they still decided to retire less than 1km before the end of rally.

So, a bit unlucky rally.

Probably his luck was given to Radik Shaymiev (Peugeot 207 S2000) who broke his steering on the last corners of the last stage. He lost less than 1 minute and fell from 9th to 14th. The finish line of the rally was still approximately 0.5 km away and to get there he finally found that the car is moving while reversing. So, he finished the rally by driving backwards:-)

The third round of the Austrian Rally Championship, the Castrol Judenburg-Poelstal Rallye, was held this weekend.

Raimund Baumschlager achieved his third victory this season driving his Skoda Fabia S2000. The Mitsubishi Evo-X drivers Mario Saibel and Andreas Aigner finished second and third.

Lindroos is fast and apparently that fast. I'm excited to see if he's gonna make to the finish. Salo had some kind of problems on SS4 and lost 30s, so Lindroos' lead over Vihavainen is now 37,4s.

EDIT: Tänak lost also almost a minute on SS4. Don't know why.

Joonas Lindroos did it! First overall victory for him in Finnish Championship. Let's just hope this will continue on the last rounds as well. Juha Salo came second 30,6s behind (he lost 30,4s on SS4 due to loose turbo pipe - it would've have been great fight without it) and Ari Vihavainen third. Jarkko Miettinen was 4th with the only S2000 car Fabia RS.

Kalle Pinomäki won 2WD class and thus already secured the championship victory with two events left.

Lindroos was really fast when he drove in Tallinn rally a few weeks ago. He had superb starting position and led the rally by 5 sec in front of Kaur until Lindroos lost all the oil from the gearbox. So, now he won:-)

He was near from win and take his revenge over Nupel team, but finally Xevi Pons won the rally despite the great effort done by Vallejo brothers and all their family, friends and fans.

They deserved more than a second. Finally Hevia, that maybe relaxed a bit once Fuster retired, and Ojeda were third and fourth.

Fantastic performance by local Dušan Borković and Peter Gyoshev who outpaced all of the S2000s today. Gyoshev had a puncture and Borković had problems so Donchev is 2nd ( 20 sec in front of Borkovi&#263 ;) but in outright speed the GrNs outpaced the S2000 by far ! Illiev is fifth with no problems :) Oh yes , Mikko is first :D
