Piet van Hoof wins his home rally with the old Lancer Evo 4. Jasper van den Heuvel was the fastest man, had a lot of fastest times and came back after his puncture yesterday. Arjen de Koning rolled in a SS. Peter van Merksteijn jr. (Focus WRC'08, driveshaft) and Peter Bijvelds (Lancer Evo 8, accident) retired.

R.I.P. Karien Vynckier. Condolences to the family, friends and hopefully a good recovery for driver Kris Cools.

Could you tell me if N4's in Austria are regular N4's, are do they have extra freedom? Stohl was a bit dissapointing, with his gas-mitsu, normally he's faster than regular N4's I thought?

The N4s in Austria are regular N4s.

The CNG Lancer Stohl and Harrach drove until last year was not N4, it was Austrian Class for alternative fuel cars and had more freedom. (restrictor, injection,...)

The Subaru und the Lancer from this year is N4 to compete for the austrian championship and has less power.

Donchev won 6 SS and Popov 5 SS out of 11

This is Donchev's 9th victory in a row in the Bulgarian championship (since Rally Bulgaria 2008)

By the way, Markko Märtin has been driving with that car in Argentina, Greece, and GB. This car has left Markko on the road all the three mentioned rallies, and even on the pre-event test in Viru Rally :D

In my opinion it's impossible to fight with circuit specials in most of Spanish tarmac rallys. If they use only N-GT, S2000 would be a good choice. Against SuperCup cars they have no chance.

Yes! 2008 FSTi winner Emre Yurdakul will drive the Fiesta R2 on this rally. The car will be run by Teknik Motorspor, M-Sport's Turkish version :)
Fiesta R2 has the steering on the right side. The car is the one we saw on promotional videos.

Rally Maribor, fifth round of the Austrian Rally Championship, was won by Raimund Baumschlager in his Skoda Fabia S2000. Baumschlager won the event with more than a minute gap in front of Andreas Waldherr (VW Polo S2000) and Hermann Gassner jun. Gassner and Baumschlager had a fight through the whole day, but in the last stage he dropped from 2nd place down to third when he lost more than a minute because of technical problems.

Rally Maribor, fifth round of the Austrian Rally Championship, was won by Raimund Baumschlager in his Skoda Fabia S2000. Baumschlager won the event with more than a minute gap in front of Andreas Waldherr (VW Polo S2000) and Hermann Gassner jun. Gassner and Baumschlager had a fight through the whole day, but in the last stage he dropped from 2nd place down to third when he lost more than a minute because of technical problems.

it was a great race with a deserved winner, but you are right, gassner was also very very fast! ..and dont forget patrick winter, he was also among the fastest, but retiered just 5km befor the finish of last stage with broken gearbox...

What crash? There was no crash, only bad luck, because the car was undamaged. He just couldn't restart. ;) :rolleyes:

Thank you for the information Micke, even though it's bad news. If I understand it correctly, under the link you posted, they say that the now dead spectator was standing in a prohibited area. If that is true I can only say one thing - some people are digging their graves themselves.

Yes, Ott Tänak has been unbeatable this year. We are all hoping for a good result in Finland this year. Two WRC cars did not finish sadly, former Markko Märtin's factory car had electrical problems as usual :s mokin:

It was tyre gambling and Thiry did everything right as he said. Gassner jr. and Corazza got offs loosing many time, Gassner sr. lost the engine. But anyway, good job from Bruno even he was excluded after technical re-investigation.

I Agree... he is a realy big talent and really fast.
But in SSR he had softer tires , Pontus Tidemand was also faster than PG and the others on some stages... They are really talents both...

(Was to cold for the rubber compound they use in SM, example PG drove on same 4 tires the whole race)

But let see to tomorrow, 15-17 degrees and rain, not the best for hard pirelli tires.

This weekend is the Rallysprint Veenendaal, a round of the Dutch Rallysprint Championship.

Jasper van den Heuvel is doing this rallysprint instead of the Barum. :( Fast Norwegian driver Martin Stenshorne will be there with his Lancer Evo 10, just as Jan van der Marel (Porsche 997 GT3), Ad Smits (Ford Escort RS Cosworth), Martin van Iersel (Subaru Impreza P2000 WRC), the winner of last year Erik Moree (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8 Group A), Jan Nijhof (BMW M3 Compact) and Hans Weijs sr. with Hans Weijs jr. as a co-driver (Citroën C2 S1600). It is the first time ever that a driver takes part with a C2 S1600 in the Netherlands in rally.

Finnish rally championship continues next saturday in Kerava (well, at least start and finish are there). Jussi Välimäki is driving in Asia at the time but other top drivers are driving there. The norwegian Martin Stenshorne lost his brakes and had a puncture on ss1 and lost a lot of minutes. He would have been second after Heuvel if they all had reached the finish without problems.

In French there is a gravel and a tarmac championship as you maybe know. I know foreign drivers receive pretty good reductions.

The link that Mirek gave is very useful, although it is only in French. You could ask Frenchman Tom206wrc of this forum in a private message for more info.

The calendar this year of the French Gravel Championship:
1. Rallye Terre de Provence (4-5 April)
2. Rallye Terre de l'Auxerrois (1-3 May)
3. Rallye Terre de Diois (6-7 June)
4. Rallye Terre de Langres (25-26 July)
5. Rallye Terre de Causses (29-30 August)
6. Rallye Terre de Cardabelles (10-11 October)
7. Rallye Terre de Vaucluse (14-15 November)

'Terre' is the French word for gravel.

Almost all cars are allowed to drive there: WRC, Group A, Group N, S2000, S1600, Kit Car's, R3 and R2 cars, Historic cars, 2WD cars... Good news is that older cars like as example a Celica GT-Four, Celica Turbo 4WD, Escort RS Cosworth, Impreza 555, 306 Maxi and even Lancia Delta Integrale are allowed. :) If your client drives a Group N Mitsubishi or Subaru, he can drive with a bigger restrictor in Group A if he want.

There is a Peugeot 207 R3T Cup with this weekend Brice Tirabassi as a driver. Foreign drivers in that cup are Laurent Reuche from Switzerland and Karl-Friedrich Beck from Germany.

Belgian drivers are very happy about this championship. Dominique Bruyneel (Impreza WRC S5) leads the championship now and Bernard Munster (Octavia WRC) is driving the whole championship too. Other Belgians that drives or drove some rounds of the championship this year are Patrick Snijers, Claudie Tanghe, Andy Gaban (Citroën C2 R2 Max), Belgian Group N champion 2008 Stéphane Lhonnay (now with Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 9 - A8), Bob Colsoul (Lancer Evo 10 - N4), Cédric Cherain (Subaru Impreza WRX STI - N4)... Former multiple champion from Switzerland, Olivier Burri, did a rally in this championship this year too with a Group N Impreza.
