Jeff Gordon's won a pole every year he's been in cup. I was beginning to think he might lose that streak this year. He's now tied with Richard Petty for 18 consecutive years with at least 1 pole position. If he wins one next year he'll tie David Pearson for first.

This is the latest he's ever won his first pole of the year (race 31).

He is quietly having a very solid year. He's at or near the top in many statistical catagories. If he can put together a couple wins, he has the chance to track down #48.

Two wins probably won't do it for anyone, unless it's helped by two bad finishes by #48, or should I say 'Dega and one other.

damn damn damn- I cheered when the 48 spun and was near the back of the pack- surely I thought he won't salvage a good result this time- he goes and finishes second- grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

so I was rather hopeful of either Hamlin or Gordon winning- the latter cocks up the pit stop and then the car has a problem, and Hamlin just didn't quite have the pace to beat him, and sadly neither did Kyle either.

am fairly sure when NASCAR started this stupid Chase thing they didn't envisage one driver winning it all the time- worst I'm sure they couldn't have expected Dale Jnr to be so utterly crap in the best team in the series that he would not be even remotely competitive anywhere except Dega and Daytona and not qualify year after year in the top 12

so it's already looking like No5 for Johnson, aside from Dega I can't see him having a bad race for the rest of the year, and a restrictor plate race could be a real lottery for all of them- sigh ok well hopefully someone can beat him in 2011

aside from the depressing familiarity with the car in second place it was a good race from a track where they can be rather tedious.

I was pulling for Kurt Busch to win his second championship. Don't look good for that now.

I say it's over...Johnson's to lose.
