There is only ONE name that it can and ought to be. A driver with ability so sublime - it was just so easy for him. A driver that the British fans loved [and winner of the British GP there in 1977 from pole] and represented a golden era in motor racing:

The James Simon Wallis Hunt Complex

Silverstone has called on fans to help name the new pits and paddock complex that will form the centrepiece of next year's British Grand Prix.

The construction, which will result in the pits and start line for Silverstone moving to the bottom end of the circuit on the exit of Club, is due to be completed in May next year.

Silverstone's owners, the British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC) has not yet decided on an official name for it - so is seeking input from fans.

Entries on Silverstone's official website (www.silverstone.co.uk (http://www.silverstone.co.uk)) can be lodged until October 8, with the prize-winner securing tickets to next year's British F1 and MotoGP events - plus VIP treatment at the opening of the new complex.

A pits complex named after Hunt? Hardly befitting the man...the dullest part of the course to a man you could never call "dull"

If it should named after a British driver then I'd suggest either Jim Clark or Nigel Mansell ( :eek: ) have a stronger claim than Hunt having both won three British GPs at Silverstone.

The website does say "The complex was designed with speed in mind but the name you chose doesn’t have to be motorsport related"

You find the place dull?

James Hunt loved the P and P. It was where he would walk uo and down viewing [in those days] the many lovely women that used to be there - and he declared he liked the place MOST for that reason, he would sit in the sun in the paddock with his good friend Niki Lauda - both of them usually puffing away. Not to forget that most people would go eat at Ferrari because they had the best food.

They would be able to meet fans. And it has always been the centre of life on a grand prix weekend.

I think it would be a wonderful and appropriate way to remember him.

All paddocks are the same - they are the center of the universe during a GP weekend where team members, journalists, PR people, sponsors and VIP's can meet - the f1 version of a central square.

And there even was a wonderful time when the real fan would be able to get close to the action.
