I may have a problem with this one as I cannot find a gravel mod for Finland. I'll keep looking, and do the other two while I'm waiting!

Bruce D

Yeah I wish I knew where they were hiding nowadays. I think the one RBR mod on BHMotorsport had it but when I looked I couldn't find it.

I've done the two stages I can do, and absolutely floored it because they may be the only two I can actually do. Frazier Wells was great - managed to go full throttle for 46 seconds near the beginning of the stage! Noiker 2 was good too - although I had never done Noiker 2 before so missed a junction at one point. Also, for some odd reason at 2 corners I stalled the engine and had a couple of seconds in neutral at 0mph.

If I can't find the gravel mod for Finland, then I'll just do the stages as snow stages for fun and let Bruce decide what to do with the results!

Bruce D
22nd September 2010, 12:20
I'll keep looking for it.

NeverKnow
22nd September 2010, 14:17
I've tried to find this mod but unfortunately all links, which are pointing to the mod itself, are dead or people advise getting RSRBR instead.

Bruce D
22nd September 2010, 14:55
I've had a look at rbr-online.it and their mod is way smaller to download and they run the stages in gravel so there must be some way with their system. Maybe look into that one PS29?

Cheers guys. I'll have a look.

Well, this one was really Intense. :s hock:
Day 1 was quite frustrating, because of rain and mud, but drove with
care and finished without any unpleasant surprises.
Day 2 was expected much better, but unfortunatelly some rolls
towards the end of NoikerII and MustaselkaII, probably cost me
some precious seconds...As I said, It was Intense, but a lot of fun!

Post some photos later on!

P.S. Just out of curiosity: ps29, did you notice any problems, with top speed of Peugeot 207???
Couldn't get over 175 km/h...

I think that is in the region of top speed for all S2000s

The lada did about 175 with the longest gearing on the last rally..

N4s will get 205 kph...

As tannat says, I think that's about right. I think I got to about 180km/h but that was downhill and after 25s of straight throttle. It did seem very slow though once it had reached top speed - I wanted to push it faster so it was frustrating when it reached top speed.

About the top speeds, that is accurate. On the Mountain Trial Rally about 2 years ago they did speed trapping of the cars and the Polos were bouncing off the rev limiter at 171km/h

Can't find the mod, and going to Uni tomorrow so won't be able to do this rally. I have sent my two gravel times to Bruce just for fun though. I will be back for Monte!

NeverKnow
26th September 2010, 15:01
Did the rally today and I have sent in the times. It was nice rally with some flowing stages and lot of sideways action. I did some small driving mistakes and I had one off.

Day one was alright with no major incidents but few mistakes here and there.

Day two started well but I misjudged a corner on SS4 and went offroading. Luckily didn't stall the engine and got going again. The corner itself was long 5th gear corner which was tightening. I overcorrected on initial entry and understeered off the road.

On the next two stages I didn't made any mistakes but I don't know what went wrong because I was a lot faster on my practise runs.

Overall I am happy I finished. I am not making any predictions and will wait for the results.

Some pictures (http://s274.photobucket.com/albums/jj267/t6nns/Swartland%20Rally/) from my rally and onboard from SS3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z36nbCpGu-U).

Completed my rally on Thursday night. First proper rally back for a while now, and I'm quite happy with the pace. I had 3 rolls in the event so not perfect but looking at the times against the others who have submitted I'm quite impressed. Maybe a long break did me good! It felt good in the stages and I was listening well to the notes. Good warmup for the MF Cup.

2 things:

1) I'm not quite sure what to do about pettersolberg29 on this event, whether to give him a superrally for all the stages he missed, the slowest time for them, give him the percentage of time he was ahead/behind people on each stage to create a false stage time (which I don't believe is the fairest option) or give him a DNF?

2) Happy birthday NeverKnow! =D

pettersolberg29
27th September 2010, 15:46
I don't mind if you give me either a DNF or a 3 min penalty for each stage I missed just so I get points for coming last. Its up to you. I did the two gravel stages just for fun and to compare my times, and I came in late to the SAIRC so have no chance to win it so dont worry about my times.

52Paddy
27th September 2010, 17:23
I did a run of the stages in a 207 S2000. I'm rushing out the door now so it was very half-hearted. I hope to get a few more attempts in before the deadline. If I don't find time, at least I have something to submit :)

lcd
27th September 2010, 17:26
A super rally penalty Is the most fair option! Sorry ps29! ;)

NeverKnow
27th September 2010, 17:51
I think superally is a fair option. If we'd put DNF/DNS for the rest of the stages, then it wouldn't be possible for ps29 to run SS4. Just my take on the situation. :)

2) Happy birthday NeverKnow! =D

I finished my rally. I decided to drive the VW Polo for this round. It's a nimble little car around narrow stages like these ones and there's enough grunt for the long stretches on Noiker (perhaps just a little lacking on Frazier Wells). I had a good drive mostly. A late pacenote at 7.7kms into Noiker made me overshoot a 90 right despite telling myself not to make that mistake during recce. I also had a spin on Autiovaara. Aside from some minor glitches here and there, I've nothing more to report so hope for a decent finishing position this time around

SAME! I made sure I wasn't gonna miss that, but the pacenote is so late I shot past it and had to do a 180 to get back. In my recce I had a lot of practise missing that corner so managed to spin and return to the stage quickly! ;)

Just waiting for times from Tannat (who's asked for an extension) and Paul, who should be giving his in today.

Paddy, some very impressive stage times once again, maybe the Polo suits you well here.

Crazy stuff on SS2 so far, only 0.64sec covering the top 4 drivers!

tannat
29th September 2010, 12:29
Just submitted my times (thanks for extension, Bruce).

When my sick daughter woke at 3:40am and said she wanted to get up I thought my rally was doomed. Luckily with a little bit of rocking and some comforting from Daddy and she went back to sleep.

A cautious rally for me. I know I could have gone faster everywhere, but was still suffering the effects of some rum the prior evening....

My some bloopers on Noiker. Missed the bad turn call at that 90 left (called 90 right), and side bumped a tree in the final 2k of the stage.

Got a bit overexuberant on Musta on day 2 and had a spin. So easy to get drawn in by this stage in gravel mode. It is probably my favorite RBR stage.

Really just hoping for a normal finish for me.... :D

FINAL RESULTS

Quite a rally this one, lead changes up until the long SS4 and the winner never won a stage all rally, but still won by over a minute! Great drive by NeverKnow, and a special mention to Paddy again, definately a big improvement.

In the championships the drivers title is wide open again, GRACE Motorsport have wrapped up the teams championship, VW now lead the manufacturers and Paul has won the S2000 class (NeverKnow was already N4 champion). Results book will be emailed out later today.

Happy with that rally now. Although I was a minute and a half down on Neverknow, it's nice to see that the rest of the field was covered by only a few seconds. Hopefully I can get past ctbr in the driver's standings after the final round.

11 clicks out of second-ARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!! All due to my errors on Noiker...

The splits are incredible on SS2 - wish I had a go too! You're right Paddy - leading by a bunch of seconds at SS2 but losing them in a small part?

Happy myself to win the two stages I did - glad I finally conquered Noiker as that stage has been my downfall in the past.
Look forward to Monte!

Yeah I was chatting to Paul yesterday afternoon and he was not happy that he'd had a bad event. He said he'd tried to drive for points on this one and wound up losing tons of time instead cos we all went a bit bonkers on this one.

As for Paddy losing time on the last sector, could have been just running wide or the tyres going out of their optimum temperature (don't forget thats a factor in this game). Option B sounds the most logical cos sounds like his tyres were up to temp faster than the rest. Still, you have to drive it to get the time, so a brilliant run. I was quite surprised by my last stage time too. Good event again. Without the 3 rolls this might have been a podium.

52Paddy

Wow, I never realised that  I must keep that in mind for future rallies.

Bruce D
1st October 2010, 12:53
Yeah it's in the game. Although I do find the Polo fairly consistent I have found stages where the tyres "go off" near the end or only start working properly.
