all I saw was the NASCAR.com headline. Apparently they had to put off the CWTS race until tomorrow afternoon, because they could not get the lights on tonight. wtf happened?

A major transmission line into East St Louis burned up and the local power company said after about 2 hrs messing around with it that it would take most of the nite to fix... The whole area around the track was without power.
If these are "Stock" cars (or trucks) they maybe they should have "Headlights" LOL

I understand the fairly high power requirements, but one would still think that they would have some sort of backup generator available for this type of situation, no?

Nah-I don't think there's a back up generator large enough to fully light a 1.25 mile speedway, as well as run the scoring tower, caution lights, A/C, the infield care center, etc,etc,etc.
The did have enough gerenrator power to run about a third of the lights, just enough for fan safety in the stands.
