It's a shame that Travaglia didn't found a team for this year :(
Let's see what Gr N drivers can do against S2000... Gr N cars will run with 18 inches wheels and big brakes... theorically they will be much faster than last year...
Personally I really hope a nice race for Ago and Basso ;)

...
I've read on an italian forum that he would drive a Subaru Impreza GrN(Aimont??) on the IRC championship

That would be fantastic.. but.. isn't he testing the new Civic R3 :s
Madeira

is that only for the Italian championship?
No, it was a measure made by FIA for all N4 cars, to diminish an eventual advantage of S2000 against N4 cars.

Yes, but with the new Civic R3 probably could be Luca Betti, but only in Turkey Rally on IRC, but at the moment it is only a rumour!

I wen't last year to see this rally-a nice race, beautiful stages, Andreucci was last year unbeatable in his Punto S2000. This time story is different: Ucci drives N4 car, but he is on home terain, in front of home crowd, so he will be very motivated...But don't forget on Longhi, Basso, Aghini, Cantamessa-they are capable to fight for a win!

Andreucci!!!
Or Basso ;)
[Madeira-Rally]
9th March 2007, 21:29
It looks like Rossetti won the stage..
Basso went off the road :( but he could start tomorrow witha 3min. penalty if his team fix the car on time... But.. rally is "over" for Basso... 3 min. is to much in a Champ. like CIR..
And something really wrong with Longhi... he was only 26th overall :(
kabouter
9th March 2007, 21:36
A successful Italian debut for the 207 S2000. And not such a successful return to CIR for European Champ Basso... Let's hope he can start tomorrow, but it's going to be hard to score any points with a three minute deficit.
Tom206wrc
9th March 2007, 21:37
I can't believe all what happened on a 6km long stage :s
Tomorrow it looks like a duel Rossetti/Andreucci with eventually drivers like Aghini and Dallavilla who can have their word to say...
Tom206wrc
10th March 2007, 09:35
SS2 running !!! :p :
Apparently Basso is back with 3 minutes penalty but also 20s penalty added(2 minutes late out of assistance) :mark:
[Madeira-Rally]
10th March 2007, 10:04
Andreucci is very strong with the lancer.. he was 16.9 seg. faster than Longhi in a stage with 19 kms...its a BIG difference between two Gr N Cars.. It won't be easy for Rosseti beat Andreucci....
I'm not shure about this.. but I think Basso is out of the race :(
Tom206wrc
10th March 2007, 10:14
Yep Basso retired in SS2 :(
Big fight Rossetti/Andreucci for the win it seems
Crazy time by Perico on the Clio S1600(only 4s slower than the leaders)
I can't imagine what he will do in the 207 S2000 Twister Corse/Enjolras on next CIR event(San Marino) :bounce:
[Madeira-Rally]
10th March 2007, 10:19
Yes.. excellent times byt the 3 faster cars.. but it's strange.. the others are so far away from the top times..
In CIR we used to see many drivers separeted by only few seconds...
Andreucci is only 1.3 behind Rossetti.. next stage will start in a few minutes.. 14.6 kms.. let's see if Andreucci can pass Rossetti in Overall classification.
[Madeira-Rally]
10th March 2007, 10:29
It seems that Basso had engine problems and was forced to retire in SS 2... :(
Not a good start for Fiat...

The two oficcial Mitsubishis better than the two oficcial Subarus.
Maybe Subarus aren't nice prepared for Michelin Tyres.. they were running since long time wwith Pirelli... I don't know.. but that could be one of the reasons for the big difference...
[Madeira-Rally]
10th March 2007, 11:00
Andreucci set the fastest time again... 0.9 sec. faster than his team mate Matteo Gamba
Now Andreucci leads with 2.5 sec of advantage by Rossetti..
Alessandro Perico 4th fastest.. great race for him and for Gamba...
Subarus are really out of the pace.. I think something is really wrong with Subarus.. they have excellent drivers.. so.. the problems just could be in the car...(in my opinion)
Tom206wrc
10th March 2007, 11:10
I wait for a reaction of Rossetti in SS4(running now) :p :
Tom206wrc
10th March 2007, 11:27
Luca Rossetti has listened to me !!! Best time in SS4 in front of Andreucci !! :D
He's still 2nd but only 2s behind Paolo... ;)
Tom206wrc
10th March 2007, 11:29
Perico 3rd best time on the SS4 !!!
He could be a rocket in the 207 S2000 he will have from San Marino and could be a real threat to Andreucci and Rossetti
Madeira

[Madeira-Rally]

Luca Cecchetini had an off on SS3 and is out of the rally..
Something broken in Subaru of Longhi (something in rear suspension I think) and he is out of the rally to...
[Madeira-Rally]

Matteo Gamba had a puncture on SS4.. he changed the tyre the SS and lost more tha 5 min... :(
[Madeira-Rally]

Andreucci made a spin on SS 5 and lost 7.2 sec. to Rossetti..
Now Rosseti leads with 5.8 sec advantage.

Puncture for Rossetti who had to change a wheel in stage !!! :mark:
I thought the Pirellis(tyres of Andreucci) didn't last long on tarmac, but here a BFGoodrich had the puncture :s
[Madeira-Rally]
10th March 2007, 15:25
Rossetti lost time because he had a puncture and he changed the tyre...
There is SuperRally on Ciocco.. but Basso will not start tomorrow with 45 min. penaltie... Abarth anounced that they are really off...
[Madeira-Rally]
10th March 2007, 16:42
Day 2 of the rally is over and Andreucci is on the lead!
What a day for Rally Ciocco!!!
All the expectations on the big fight for the 1st place over after Rossetti's puncture... it was being really exciting to follow the leaders...
Andreucci had a brilliante day, beside a little mistake (spin) on SS 5.
But.. .for me the man of the rally until now.. is Alessandro Perico.. he has been very consistente all day, he had some little problems in the last stages with alternator.
This Year there is a big gap between Oficcial Mitsu and the privateer Mitsu.. Gamba was having a nice day too.. but he had a puncture and lost a wheel on the last stage...
Nice day for Davide Medici to.
Many drivers had problems in their cars and punctures...
Very dispointing rally by Subaru Team :( really dispointing...

That's Manfrinato's Car.... he isn't official Subaru Team driver....
Official are Aghini and Longhi..
Paragraph taken from a press release from Piero Longhi
For Sure Official's Subaru are running with big wheels and big brakes ;)
This picture were taken in a test in February...

It looks we will see a big battle for a podium finish between Medicci and Perico..
Medicci won SS11 and now he is "only" about 10 sec. behind Perico... if wee look at the times.. Perico won 15.3 on with this stage victory.. so in the second round in the stages it's possible to win another 15 sec.. It will be exciting for sure!
[Edited: Meddicci didn't won the stage.. Rossetti won..]
[Madeira-Rally]
11th March 2007, 10:54
Cantamessa had a broken differential at the end of stage 11... he hopes to arrive to service park to fix the car..

[Madeira-Rally]
11th March 2007, 13:46
There's no much more to say about Ciocco...
Andreucci did a fantastic rally and shown that Mitsu (Ralliart) are much better than Subaru... and much batter than privateer Mitsu.
I think Cantamessa can't do much more with a privateer car.. he was consistent during all rally and no mistakes.. but he was always far from Andreucci...
Perico was the big surprise of the rally for me... really impressive... always top times and almost no mistakes. Let's see if he what he can do with 207 S2000 on nex race.
Rally lost some interest with Basso's error on the 1st stage.. and with the unlucky of Rosseti when he had a puncture.
Subaru was really disappointing on this rally... they never could set top stage times in "real" stages...
Bad luck for Meddicci who was consistent 4th overall before last stage... ha had an off on the last stage...
I conclude that this year CIR is a little bit different from last years... there is a big gap between official and privateers... let's wait for San Marino to see how it will be the future of 2007 CIR.
BTW.. thanks to Claudio from Rallylink for his precious informations and congratulations the organization of Rally del Ciocco.. they had always live stage times working pretty good.
Provisional final classification
1.Andreucci
2.Cantamessa+58.5
3.Perico+1.21.9
4.Aghini+1.56.3
5.Perego+2.55.9
6.Dallavilla+3.01.9
7.Cavallini+4.00.8

It's good to see Perico near the front again after a difficult year with the Subaru in 2006 - remember, he did win Sanremo 2005 with a Clio! But don't get your hopes up too high for San Marino. That's a gravel rally and Perico has never done better than 10th on a gravel round of the Italian Championship, and it remains to be seen how the 207 S2000 will do on that surface. But I agree that on asphalt a second CIR victory in his career is a possibility this season.

Good point of view Madeira.
And... interesting that... Perico used Pirelli tyres on his Twister Corse Clio...
Maybe.. he will use Pirelli on his new 207 S2000... it would be intesting if he use Pirelli... in order to compare with the other 207 S2000 wich is currently running with BF Goodrich tyres.
