Peruvian officials claim to have evidence that Joran van der Sloot brutally beat, knocked an eye out and broke the neck of a Peruvian student in her brutal murder. Information is still sketchy at this moment. Let's see how this one plays out!

You don't need to wonder how this is going to play out. He fu____ed and fu____ed good!! A Peruvian jail for stabbing a Peruvian girl. I really doubt he will live much longer! If I were him I would tie the big knot in the sheets and swing from the highest point!

I hope they stop him from that. I hope they do it legal like...make him think about his impending doom....but not give him the satisfaction of ending his life. I don't agree with the death penalty as a general rule, but in the case of slimy, smug little jerks like this clown, I can bend my principle just a little...

Not me bud. I wouldn't go near him unless I had a few gratitious whacks at him with an iron bar. This guy is pure slime, and an evil jerk. I would change my mind about the death penalty if all the killers were as obvious as this guy.....the problem is for every van der Sloot, you have about 10 guys who aren't so clear cut, and two them could be framed by corrupt or stupid cops who wont or don't do their jobs properly...

As Toasty intimated, that doesn't preclude another inmate from whacking him!

One has to wonder if there are other bodies in his past. And I read that Alabama has issued an extortion warrant for him for trying to sell the story of what happend to Holloway?! Wow, this guy was a pure charmer.

Would anyone object to locking him in the same cage with Amanda Knox and giving them both knives? I mean, sooner or later, one of them is going to drift off to sleep. :bounce:

They have video of him entering the Hotel with her, and him leaving alone. They have the murder weapon and most likely DNA evidence. (I doubt if The Kingdom of the Netherlands will do jack squat for him) A foreigner killing a Peruvian National in Peru coping a plea in this situation? Maybe, maybe he'll get 99 years instead of Life.

Swoop, copping a plea only works if the Prosecuters are not sure of their case. I think in Peru, ways are always found to be sure of the case!!!!

There are a lot of people who have been waiting to see this jerk brought to justice. He is a serial killer I suspect, and he wont be long once the inmates decide they don't need his act. The Netherlands may not like where he is kept, or the justice system maybe in Peru, but they wont try too hard to repatriate him to a Dutch prison either. No nation would condone what apparently this guy "alledgely" did....

Too bad he didn't get caught in Singapore....lol

Assumptions and stereotypes are funny at times.

F.Y.I. Peru has one of the most liberal court systems in the western hemisphere. Convicted terrorists and mass murdered frequently walk out after spending part of their sentences.

If convicted he will survive just fine and will probably walk in about 10 years.

Tony, surely they cannot be any more libreal than Canada at times, and even here, he would be looking at a "dangerous offender" tag and not be eligible for parole. There is too many things this guy has been caught in for a very good case to be in front of the courts, and you can bet there will be more than a little bit of moral suasion from the US Ambassador into the Peruvian corridors of power...

They can't repatriate him because Peru and NL have no treaty. If he gets convicted he'll have to serve his time in Peru.

This guy sure had a wild life though. He's like 23 or so? Lived in the Caribbean, Europe, Thailand, now he was in Peru and still managed to flee 2000km to Chili. How does he get all that money? He's from an ordinary family, not especially rich or so. He had a gambling addiction, was caught human trafficking, obviously involved in at least 2 deaths and it was all broadcasted on tv... Yet how did he keep getting friends and Girlfriends!? I can't really get my head around that.

Mark I checked out Tony's assertion. In the arena of punishment (in terms of years, and terrorism, he is summarily correct. However Peru has no international terrorism. Just Some really nasty indigenous groups that are causing some serious mayhem. From what I can tell the ones that walked are the exceptions, and probably let go for political reasons. The typical sentence for domestic terrorism is 10-15 years. The max for murder is 35 years.

How does this sound for our friend van der sloot:

Lurigancho Prison in Peru is considered one of the most dangerous prisons in the civilized world!

Lurigancho Prison in Peru was built for 3600 inmates but now houses nearly 10,000, with only 100 unarmed guards. To control the prisoners the authorities have handed over the running of the prison to a council of inmate leaders

Also expect the Peruvian Gov to protect him if convicted to show the Euros that they are savages.

Federal prosecutors in Birmingham, Alabama have filed a criminal complaint against van der Sloot, a citizen of the Netherlands, on wire fraud and extortion charges in connection with his soliciting money in May on promises he would reveal the location of Natalee Holloway’s remains in Aruba and the circumstances of her death, according to court documents obtained by the National Association of Chiefs of Police.

The complaint charges that van der Sloot, on May 10, extorted $15,000 from an individual as partial payment toward his promise to reveal the location of Natalee Holloway’s remains for $250,000. The maximum sentence on the extortion count is 20 years in prison.

The complaint also charges van der Sloot with wire fraud for causing the $15,000 to be transferred by wire from a Birmingham bank to a bank in the Netherlands in furtherance of his scheme to defraud. The maximum sentence for the wire fraud count is 30 years.

At age 22, Van der Sloot is now a caged animal. He sits in a bleak third-world prison, where he fears his fellow inmates. After requesting isolation, he shares a cellblock with a reputed Colombian murderer-for-hire.

Confession by torture is very unreliable since people will confess to anything to avoid enough pain, however, when one can go to the location and find the body, then such a confession is not so unreliable

Besides he is likely to come up with another crazy story.....and the body never found

Police in Colombia are investigating whether Dutch national Johan van der Sloot was involved in the disappearance of two girls in Bogotá. The chief suspect in the murder case of Peruvian woman Stephany Flores was reportedly seen in various casinos in the Colombian capital in the company of young girls.

El Espacio has published an article on the Dutchman, linking his visits to Bogotá casinos to attend poker games between 6 and 14 May 2010, to the young women’s disappearance. The two girls went missing in the same period and - according to eye-witnesses - were spotted in Van der Sloot’s company. The 22-year-old Dutchman stayed at two or more hotels, the newspaper reports

BTW about the two missing women in Columbia:

the Administrative Department of Security of Colombia do not consider Van der Sloot a suspect as they believe his presence in Bogota was merely in transit to Peru.[91]
And then there is this crap:

Dutch daily newspaper Trouw warned that the overwhelming pressure on authorities of Van der Sloot's presumed guilt risked turning the case into a show trial.[92] The Dutch consulate told Peruvian authorities that it was concerned how Van der Sloot was being treated and presented to the media.[58]

I totally agree with your previous post that that the country of his patriation has an interest and responsibility to do what they can to see that he receives a fair trial. However, the crime he is accused of was perpetrated on the soil of the Sovereign State of Peru. Their judiciary system will handle this case as they handle every other aggravated heinous felony. If the Dutch government in some obtuse fantasy decides to strenuously object, it should take a declaration of war before Peru considers giving any form of special treatment to this barbarian. Just show me where to sign the conscription papers to join the Peruvian Military. The last thing Peru, in my opinion should do is make the slightest implication that foreigners can come to their country commit a crime and send a message to their own citizens that they are not entitled to the same treatment as a citizens of a country that would appear to be entitled because they are not of the third world. If anything they have an obligation to their enraged citizens to demonstrate the exact opposite!

Peru will ask the US to take him and the US can't because they can't prosecute him. Too much money involved for the Peruvian court system to imprison him and not enough facts for the us TO HAVE HIM.
