A fellow blogger on racing-reference (http://www.racing-reference.info/showblog?id=354) alerted me to a story the AP published.

It seems that if you entered a NASCAR sanctioned race in the 1980's and get arrested 30 years later, NASCAR can be used to sensationalize the story.

I noticed that too. The article said he never won a national level race. It appears to me he never even appeared in a national level race. :p

They don't get being at a NASCAR sanctioned track doesn't mean you are a NASCAR driver really. This guy couldn't get into the NASCAR garage if he has Brian France's permission...
