Swift released their latest concept yesterday, and I have to say I think it looks real sharp. I mean, the car is sexy. She looks like an open-wheel race car, and has some sweet lines on her.

The engine isn't exposed as per their earlier concepts, but they have added more space for advertising by covering it up, as well as sloping the side pods slightly to give a better angle to cameras.

The wings are fresh and new. Narrower rear wing with a LMP style support attaching the wing to the chassis. The front wing is rather different, looks slightly like their Formula Nippon car.

I have to say this car is my favorite yet, and I was pretty high on the Delta Wing due to it's revolutionary feeling. This isn't revolutionary, but it is the right way to go in my opinion if we are going with evolution.

If we can let this Swift concept play with Lola concept and one of the two good looking Dallara concepts, even the BAT project (although I think that car doesn't look great), we could have a real winner on our hands.

I don't know the coding to post pictures on the forum, but I have some on the blog if you'd like to check them out. Also, the company in partnership with Swift who provided them with the Supercomputer to design the car, Cray Inc., have the pictures on their website. Still think the Lola is better looking

This car looks Formula Ford'ish with wings. If it races like that it can't be bad.

I don't see the Swiftlights anymore, I thought that was a clever idea...

I like this one alot. The picture straight on from the side makes it look like a fairly short wheelbase. Don't know if that's good or bad. Probably both, good on streets, bad at Indy. Probably my favorite so far.

Best one yet! As chamoo said, it is fresh, new and sexy...but still looks like an Indy car rather than a gragster..

Opps spelling or finger problems...previous should read "Dragster"

When I stop and close my eyes, I can really see this car running on IMS during may with the Dallara and Lola concepts.

I like what I see.

whats with all the swan supports for the rear wing??? Acura, Audi, Aston Martin, is there really any advantage in this, other than maybe alittle better air flow on the wing

Apparently there is at least some advantage. I'm not sure why it took so long to come up with actually (easy for me to say now that I've seen it :-) ) The principle seems to be that the airflow over the wing is not nearly as important as the airflow under the wing. So anything that you can get out of the way of the airflow under the wing is a good thing. The issue that I can see is that the supports will still be creating turbulence wether they are infront of the wing or under the wing. So I'm not sure how much of an advantage it is, but I would suspect a couple tenths of a % of L/D to the good.

Cars looks decent but it doesn't really do it for me - looks too short (length-wise not height-wise)... The more I think about it the more I like the radical departure presented by the deltawing - but honestly, I'll be good with anything half-way decent - I am even ok with the Dallara now - it is not pretty but it is ok.....

not that whether or not I am "good" with it counts!!

car length seems too short for me, and it does look from the back and front that the engine cover is wearing a frock at the sidepods.

however, the front wing and sidepod design from the side (and the first picture) looks great IMO. so basically, for me this looks good some angles and fat lady at others.

still not perfect, I think the lola and dallara works for me still, even if this tries to look a bit more futuristic.

I would still rather see the rear wing endplates double as struts to reduce drag.

It took me 2.6 seconds to fall in love with the front wing.

No air box. Made for a turbo engine ?

I like it BUT:

What would Marco say with the blade behind the front wheel protruding down into the cocpit of his car at Sao Paulo?

potentially nothing.....

seriously - it could be an issue but I kind of doubt it would get into the cockpit....

I doubt it would get onto the track. The first minute in a wind tunnel and that nose will be long gone. It does look pretty though.

I don't know about that, I would think the CFD they did would atleast give them a pretty good feel this front wing would work. I hope it does.

Don't forget, the front wing on this car has two functions, one for downforce, the other to help avoid interlocking wheels.

Looking at the angles and such, I think the front tire would have to come off if there were any chance for that fin to enter the cockpit, and even then, it's almost impossible for the car to line up in such a way that would allow the fin to enter the cockpit, in my opinion atleast.

No air box. Made for a turbo engine ?

Every 2012 Indycar concept provided by the manufacturers has been built without an airbox. I think it's pretty obvious the next generation car will be powered by a turbo.

Why do you say that? Not suggesting you are wrong, just curious what you think is wrong with the aero of this wing. Wonder if we can get tamburello to weigh in on this? I'll send him a PM.

The part of the front wing in front of the wheel looks like it would produce lift.

Adjusting the wing would also cause all kinds of aero issues as well.

(quoting the image so it will show up on the second page...)

I like it a lot!

I can imagine it getting stretched a little longer once they get into the nitty-gritty of fitting everything in, but that might look even better. The wing/fins protecting the wheels & serving as nerf bars might be a real good idea, allow for a bit more contact before a wheel to wheel sends somebody airborne.

For what its worth, I would imagine the guys who designed & computed this already figured out if the nose worked & made sure the wings created downforce not lift.

I stretched it about 5% longer in paint.net... even prettier!

(if the mods can put this inline, cool)

That car looks more like a boat than an open wheeler IMO....

I like it....It is a winner as far as I am concerned. IT looks CLEAN. Less turbulence in the wake means closer racing. I am not a wind tunnel engineer and I didn't sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night BUT there is a saying that "what looks right, is right" that still holds sway.

This car looks right. It looks like it would cut through the air but has the wings/slats/tunnels all modern race cars have. I am sure this thing has been tested in a theroretical wind tunnel. I think the Delta Wing was a radical revolution, but this is a really good evolution, and maybe in the end, that is the more practical fate for the next generation of Indycars. That said, I don't want just this car, I want a lot of cars with some of these features with multiple chassis.

We go to another one marque formula, we create a bush league image. So at some point, we have to get off this one car, one series mentality if Indycar will have any meaning.

I like #23 the best, but I'd take this over any of the other offerings.

Some of the ALMS prototypes have those gooseneck rear wing supports. I wonder how they work aerodynamically.

OK!! So now this has grown on me, and became one of my faves!!! I would love to see a group of them....

My other favorite?,, the other artist rendition of an Indycar that Gary posted a while ago.........could you repost that one too Gary??
