Just an enquiery of Renault Clio diesel owners,
We had a 55 registered Renault Clio Diesel car for Driving tuition,we normally do at least 50k per year,BUT at 34K after dropping off a pupil the car refused to start. As the car was only8 months old,we rung the rescue service and it was towed to the local Renault Dealers.A Phone call the day after ,they old us they would need the car for 5 or 6 days,to repair it.We found that the fuel pump had disintegrated, and was sending metal filings down the fuel lines which blocked the fuel lines, filter and injector pump.We asked if this was common, and were told that it was not the first one that they had seen.We asked if there was going to be a recall,as it seemed to be a known problem,to which they replied NO..The cost had we been paying was £3000,for new pump, fuel lines ,fuel filters ,injector pump, and all new injectors. As our problem developed within the guarentee period, and MOST users will not do over 30K in their 3 year guarantee time, why not a recall rather than let owners have to sort this costly problem out when the car is NO longer Guaranteed. Is this fair?
