FIA postpone waste energy systemshttp://www.formula1.com/images/spacer.gif27 February 2007http://www.formula1.com/images/spacer.gifThe introduction of new technologies designed to reuse waste energy in Formula One cars is to be delayed by a year, following a decision announced by the FIA on Tuesday.http://www.formula1.com/images/spacer.gifhttp://www.formula1.com/images/spacer.gifThe changes, which will see heat from exhaust gases and other sources utilised in propelling the car, were due to be introduced in 2010, but will now be put back until 2011 to coincide with a proposed new engine formula.

The delay will allow teams to design the new technologies in combination with the new engines, rather than having to make them work with the current engines, which will be redundant after 2010.

Exact details of the new engine formula have yet to be announced, but it is likely to include a four-race reliability requirement, with the use of high-efficiency turbocharging, bio fuels and other road-relevant technologies..
