Yes, well spotted!

SO... unless we get three entries from a couple of those, we ain't going to see 20.

Lets hope some of the other rumours we have been hearing about actually happen then... especially 888.

He and Mike Earle’s Arena squad that runs the cars are clearly determined to start the 2010 season as they ended 2009.....

Meanwhile, Arena becomes the first team in 2010 to begin testing ahead of the start of the new Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season at Thruxton on Easter Sunday 4 April.....

"The cornering is just out of this world and the Focus is the best handling touring car I’ve ever driven. Thruxton is going to be great fun and I’m really looking forward to corners like Noble, Goodwood and Church."

He has convinced me....

Before last week we could have put Vaulkhard with Bamboo in the same category. Look how that one worked out.

Same goes for Forster Motorsport, they've been testing regularly since picking up both of Mat Jackson's old BMW's

Alfa Fan
16th February 2010, 00:32
Ferrier and Hanson tested for Carly Motors BMW in 2004, how many races did they do? Vaulkhards website had Thruxton on it only a few weeks ago. I'll take bets on him actually being there! This list is different to all the other ones in the rumours section because it contains only those entries where their is a story on the official website stating: we are entering the BTCC with this driver and this car.

You'll also notice the main website for this forum does not list Chilton either.

PDS
16th February 2010, 00:47
Okay, that's fine...

One thought though, If the Focus is not FIA Homologated, which I don't believe it is, it can't run in the WTCC??

If you read the OP it does say that this includes all the drivers that have been confirmed on the btcc.net homepage therefore the OP doesn't have to add any of the teams that haven't yet been confirmed by the btcc.net website.

Maybe adapt your OP so that it has a list of drivers that haven't been confirmed on the official site but have confirmed sources elsewhere.

Could you highlight the section where it says they will be entering Tom to this years championship, as I seem to be going a bit blind. At some point in the near future I'm sure AON will confirm their entry, at which point they will be added to the list.

This is the link, I never disputed you're entry list, Alfa fan, I just think you should have included Tom Chilton. I can see why you didn't include him because he never said "I WILL ENTER" but btcc.net have been covering the tests that AON have done with the Focuses and Tom Chilton mentioned about looking forwards to racing at Thruxton

MattL
17th February 2010, 17:46
I don't think we need to get quite so up tight over all this! I think we all agree that Tom's pretty likely to be on the grid in a Focus, but in the strictest of senses, there has been no official confirmation. There are certainly still some details to be confirmed re. Arena's entry this year, anyway, so I think it's fair to leave it off the list for the moment.

It does mean though, that the list might not be very long until we reach media day on 23rd March!

Alfa Fan
17th February 2010, 17:54
Last year IIRC we had about 90% of entries confirmed in the respective thread before media day (Only Martin Johnson missing I can think of atm).

In fact - just checked, the day before media day we'd amassed a complete list, bar the final confirmations of Dynamics, Morrison to AON and Martin Johnson.

The number of entries confirmed so far is a bit dire in comparison to previous years. Last year which only saw 20 cars start the season, we already knew about 14 of them by mid-January!

Dickie L'Amour
17th February 2010, 18:42
Alfa Fan needs to get his blood pressure checked and give the drivers and teams a bit of a break. This year more than last it's very tough for people trying to do deals in any race series. So what if it's taking longer than normal to do the deal? Do you really think these people aren't trying? I recall a number of people last year predicting doom and gloom but 2009 didn't turn out that badly did it? Quite the opposite. Whatever the outcome it's unrealistic to expect every season to be on a par with every other one.

PDS
17th February 2010, 18:49
Too true Dickie...
As you say this time round it is taking teams longer to finalise their programmes for 2010.

But latest indications are that we should see a grid simular in qauntity and quality with last's years great season.

I guess everyone missed the "so far". In terms of what we know about 2010 now compared to what we knew about 2009 at the same time last year, its hard to argue that its not looking weaker.

Dickie L'Amour
18th February 2010, 16:10
It depends if you're a glass half full or a half empty kind of person. Alfa Fan the teams and drivers and sponsors don't put together and announce their deals according to your wishes! I'm pretty sure they are all trying their damndest day in day out in a very tough financial climate to be on the grid. These are highly competitive people we're talking about. At least first give people a chance when times are hard instead of being all doom and gloom..

19th February 2010, 00:38
Don't forget we have Team Arena, West Surrey Racing, Team Motorbase, and RML still yet to reveal their drivers for this season. Also there's a few teams that have named one driver with the view to a second in the pipeline.

Nothing to worry about.

mattie007

He had knee surgury at the start of the season so was always going to miss the first 2-3 rounds. Then he opened an MGRover parts garage (Xpart) so I guess all his time was taken up on that. I would rather of them said 'we wont be racing this season' than keeping us guessing!

And of course the RML entry. Although technically still a rumour i'd be very suprised if Plato and McDowell weren't announced on tuesday.

Yeah we expect those two as well, but like the others they haven't announced an entry through other mediums.

Hectic day of announcements! :) Still awaiting formal confirmation of Shaun Hollamby, Arthur Forster, Martin Depper and Lea Wood.

Also not forgetting Martin Johnson

Overall the potential entry is looking fantastic. Including unofficial announcements/rumours im counting at least 24 cars, and that includes a possible Triple 8 entry.

It's looking pretty good so far. I guess there's a chance we'll have a couple of stories leaked over the weekend and on Monday but otherwise that's probably the last of the official news before Media Day this coming Tuesday.

I never doubted there would be a poor grid this season!
It was obvious there would be late deals/announcements!

Wow really? I'm looking forward to it, with me still being a fan of the Astra Coupe and all...

The Astra coupe is a nice looking car and I'm sure Martin Johnson will be able to scrape the odd point this year.

It's probably an imcomplete livery but the new Motorbase is looking good. They've made better use of the link with Leyland paints I would say.

Phil Glew in a 888 Vectra!
Nice to know that 888 will be on the grid with at least one car.

I assume Gio is flying over for talks ;) .....
