Has anyone about this forum ever driven on studded tires?

Curious of what it is like...

We've had a heavy ice last week and snow today. Curious what proper tires do for conditions such as this.

Also looking forward to Rally Sweden this weekend

A majority of Finns drive studded tyres during he winter months, me included, i have Nokian's Hakkapelitta somethings. They do work miracles on icy roads compared to "friction tyres" as the studless winter tyres are called here. There is little difference in traction snow. noise is where studded tyres fail compared to non studded.

Geez I thought it was a thread about my sexual poweress.
Studs are great on ice or hard packed snow.
Do get interesting on wet or dry pavement though!
Had them on rally cars years ago. Now banned in southern Ont. because of damage to the roads when no snow.

I thought the same Drifter...

AS for using them in Canada, I don't really think anywhere are they used except for ice racing and maybe remote regions where there is no bare pavement policy in road clearance..

You will note the ice road truckers and the vehicles that service the roads do NOT have studs. We Canadians just have gotten by without them.
