The light-right-left zig-zag from Turns Seven to Nine could be changed into a simple 90 degree left-hander around the War Memorial, instead of inside it.

But more significantly, the changes may also remove altogether the bus-stop chicane sequence that runs underneath the grandstand near the end of the track – near where Nelson Piquet crashed in 2008.

A lot better IMO. A lot more like Adelaide.

Big improvement, shame they can't get it done for this year. Shows they're serious about hosting a grand prix though, they've already tweaked the layout for last year and are building new subway lines to the track too.

Shame about the Piquet Corner, but faster is better.

Yep, good idea. Aside from the skyline, I've always found the track to be quite dull.

I also like the look of the new layout. Simple but effective.

nice, although I will miss that underneath the grandstand part of the track

I'm all for extending the backstraight and the new left hander for better overtaking but getting rid of the bus-stop sequence is definite no no. Really enjoyed that tricky sequence from the onboards. Made the race track less dull. The revised track are no different to street-racing fests from North America.

I interpreted the change differently....... I think it sounds like they will keep "Piquet's corner" and the straight in front of the grandstand on the waters edge, but take out the 18/19/20/21 complex, ie connect current 18 to 21, to make a straight blast from 17 to the final double apex corner

Looks good to me. The bits they are going to remove wont be missed as they are pretty ordinary corners and the longer straights should help overtaking :)

I agree, its looks really good and is reminiscient of Adelaide.

Super!

Rumor has it that the revised straight section after turn 7 will be named Piquet Straight ahead. :p :
