The one in Parliament (http://images.parliament.uk/indexplus/image/work_commons_mace1_saa.jpg/work_commons_mace1_saa.html?ixlb=1&ixvs=1) is particularly fine, I think. Do any other chambers have anything similar?

Personally, I was astounded to discover that nutmeg and mace come from the same plant.

Well I couldn't find a picture of the Canadian one, but if you look up Maces on Wikipedia, you get the history of a lot of them. It tends to be a British parliamentry tradition, but the US House of Representatives has one as well. The original got burned by the British when they toasted Washington in the war of 1812...
