Why did Subaru use the Vivio Sedan 4WD on the Safari in 1993 instead of the Legacy?

Yes, it was all about marketing.
A Vivio was used to very good effect in New Zealand about this time too. Driven by Vanessa Slee.
Vanessa was a very talented driver but the car itself was also very effective, winning it's class on every outing on which it finished.
