New to the WRC. Would like to know really the weight, cylinder capacity and hp difference between the 3 types of car to gague some idea if how the cars stack up against each other and what car is heavier/lighter and slower/faster.

Got problems finding it out on the net.

WRC cars are 4WD as are S2000
S1600 are FWD

WRC are Faster than S2000 and S2000 are faster than S1600

out of my head I think that S1600 cars weigh 980kg, s2000 1100kg, and WRC cars 1230kg... (minimum weight)

You're not right.

Minimum weight for S1600 is 1000 kg, for S2000 is 1200 kg (since 2009) and for WRC is 1230 kg.

And for N4 (four wheel drive 2,0 l turbocharged engines) the min weight is 1350 kg.

Is that just for SWRC cars or all specs?

And what about cylinder capacity and power output? I assume JWRC cars (S1600) are less powerful beacuse of the age of the drivers. No young talent could possibly handle a car as powerful as the Focus or C3.

So no young drivers can handle a WRC car?

Not necessarily of course, with Novikov being the exception at the moment. :p

S1600: 1600 ccm, naturaly aspirated, max. rpm 9000, power approximately 230-240 Hp, torque around 200 Nm

S2000: 2000 ccm, naturaly aspirated, max. rpm 8500, power approximately 270-290 Hp, torque around 260 Nm

WRC: 2000 ccm, turbocharged, 34 mm restrictor, power somewhere between 360-400 Hp, torque probably over 750 Nm today

N4: 2000 ccm, turbocharged, 33 mm restrictor (since 1st January 2010), power around 300 Hp and torque around 600 Nm

I don’t know how familiar you are about the sport but a good start are these sites. (lot of readings)

http://www.fia.com/en-GB/sport/regulations/Pages/FIARallyChampionships.aspx

http://www.fia.com/en-GB/sport/regulations/Pages/InternationalSportingCodeA.aspx

Mirek has god knowledge about what’s happening in the rally word and about technical issues but I would still claim that the torque of a WRC car is about 850-900 Nm,

And a couple of a Finnish web sites links:

http://www.kosunenracing.com/ega.html

Welcome to the WRC world. :)

That's ment to be a joke, right?

No. I am new to WRC. But I am just trying to make myself sound an expert by making the kind of informed assumptions that motorsport forum members always make. Nowt wrong with pretending to be someone else if the person you are pretending to be is better than who you are really.

Not familiar at all. I used to watch it as a casual watcher when the likes of Kankkunen, Auriol and of course McRae raced. Thanks for the links.
