Peter Sauber confirms 2nd driver to be announced next week

Peter Sauber is a recent convert to Twitter and he has announced that they will be confirming the identity of the teams second driver next week

Reckon its from the following shortlist:


Heidfeld
Klien
Petrov
Maldonado
Baguette
Pantano
Villeneuve
Fisichella
Piquet


If its NOT Heidfeld, cant see where Nick will realistically end up in F1 2010 which would be a huge shame but after the pull-out of BMW, Dell, Intel, Credit Suisse, FxPro etc...... the team needs drivers who bring $$$ unfortunately - I reckon Kamui already has Panasonic money he is bringing to the team.

It could be that whoever out of Petrov/Maldonado dont end up at Campos...the other will end up at Sauber as they seem to be the 2 best funded peddlers out there at the moment still on the market. Baguette seems to think that at the absolute least, he will have a 3rd driver role at the team.

Bernie also been making some noises about Klien this week which could be an ominous signal that he may well get the driver which I must say I would be surpised at or maybe Sauber has decided that money aside, going with 2 rookies may be to risky so maybe thats where Klien would bring a bit of continuity to the team - guess well find out next week

Take a look at the spelling of Hinwil in his first post. He then went to edit the same error under his location from Hinwill to Hinwil.

I don't see another rookie being a good match with Kobayashi; Klien, Villeneuve and Pantano would have a lot to re-learn and would have doubtful pace, which only leaves Heidfeld and Fisichella. Unless the loss of Petronas has created a sponsorship problem then I think that dropping Heidfeld would be a mistake. If it has created a sponsorship problem then Sauber probably won't be competitive compared to the other old teams.
