I think it was a rally past our farm back in the late 70's. I remember it being run by the Ford Four club from Melbourne. I was only 7 or 8 so don't remember much about it.

I don't remember what rally it was as I was only 3 or 4 but went to a stage in Haldon Forest near Exeter. Pat Doran was in a Sierra and rolled where we were watching.

I think it was Hankiralli in 1978, Pentti Airikkala did win that time, it was a very good rally back then, called nowdays as the grand mom of all winter rallies. First WRC event was 1000 Lakes 1981.

First rally was a national sprint event, not sure which one, around 1996-'97.

First WRC event was Germany 2003.

Rally of the Tall Pines, the last event on the Canadian Championship, Nov. 94. That particular one was a tight one if I remember between the Sprongl brothers Audi and John Buffum and his Audi. Then in the end, some guy from Quebec won. Then again, I may be mixing memories from a few Rally's there.....

I've only seen film clips but one thing boggles my mind. What kind of a fool would sit on the outside of a turn at a rally event. When those guys don't make the turn, you don't have alot of time to move elsewhere.

I sat up on a hill above a rock cut on one stage, and on another, 30 feet off the road on a hill BEFORE the curve.....What also gets me in some place in Europe where the people stand right on the side of the road and the car parts them like the Red Sea.....

First proper WRC event was Acropolis 2003 with Pino and Odykas

Can't remember first one I spectated, but the first one I went to I was entered in with my trust Saab 96 V4, Wild West Rally, May 1984 out of Olympia Washington on what was the same stages as Olympus WRC would use in '85-'88.

First WRC was also not spectating but entered---same Saab 96---well no spectating until SS19 when we spit up a bunch of teeth on the crownwheel and parked it---then we got to watch a hard battle between Kankunnen and Alen in the last WRC GroupB event in history and it was a real fight for seconds.

First WRC spectating was Monte Carlo 1993 for the debut of the Escort Cosworth, then a month later Sweden WRC.

Rally GB 2003 - just old enough to understand WRC and following in my father's footsteps by supporting Petter since 1999 I was thrilled to see him win the WDC in my rally debut!

Wasn't a "proper" rally but for me it was the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 2002...

My first was a round of the BRC in 1990. Might have been in Kielder but not too sure. I was a dot.

First WRC was 1994 RAC Rally at Harewood.
First WRC I remember was 1995 RAC Rally at Clumber Park.

The first rally I went to was apparently Rally Oz in 1990 (I was just over 1yo at the time). The first I remember is Rally Oz in 1993, in particular the 555 Subaru Liberty/Legacy's running down Riverside Dr (Langley Park) at night. Since then i've only missed 1 Rally Oz (2 including 2009) and have been officialling & competing in local events for the past 4 years.

First. The Pirelli Rally special stage in Gateshead. The last the Jim Clark rally in the borders.

Those remain the only two rallies I have been to :D

As I heard Clarkson say once, 'you may as well just sit in a fridge with a Ski Jacket and Bobble Hat and get your neighbour to throw handfulls of gravel in your face'. It was something like that anyway!

First rally for me was 1973 Wyedean, and like Jamie I was 2 weeks old, and really don't remember it...

Heh, yes :p . The Jim Clark was ok tho. It was a baking hot summers day and we sat and had a picnic while we watched the cars go through the water splash, very civilised :p

That's not rallying. Rallying is where you stand in a forest in the wet and cold, have some lukewarm coffee and then go home muttering about how much you hate rallying :D :D
