View Full Version : The Very Short History of Andreas Mikkelsen

I've posted this in the History thread, but it doesn't really fit there.

Just wondering if anyone on here has, or can be bothered to make, a list of all the events Mikkelsen has taken part in since 2005. I'm doing some research on him, similar to what I was doing on Petter Solberg earlier this year as some might remember.

I've obviously got a list of the WRC events he's done, but I'm interested now in the events he's done in Norway, and in the UK a couple of years back. Any help is much appreciated.

He took part in Saaremaa rally in Estonia in 2006 together with Ola Floene. The car was Focus WRC, he won that event in front of Margus Murakas (Corolla WRC).

I'm sure I still have all Andreas' early results. At the start he was seemingly doing a rally every weekend. There was a lot of buzz around him so I followed closely his progress. I just need to get my laptop fixed and I will send them all your way.

Would be good to complete a full list of events he's done eventually for people who are interested.

That would be great Simmi. I have a plan to create a website with the details of every rally both Petter Solberg and Andreas Mikkelsen have competed in, with pictures from each event and some videos.
I've done about 80% of Petter's page, but about 4% of Andreas'!

3rd Rally Finnskog 2008 Ford Focus WRC
1st Numedalsrally 2008 Ford Focus WRC
1st Rally Larvik 2008 Ford Focus WRC
3rd Rally Hedmarken 2008 Ford Focus WRC

He ended up on par with Mads Østberg in the 2008 chamoionship with 174 points each, but Østberg became champion due to a miscalculation by Andreas and codriver Ole Floene in the last round Rally Hedmarken. They thought that 3rd place and level points would be enough to secure the championship, but they didn`t read the regulations closely enough and missed the fine print. On level points the driver winning the last round would be crowned champion, and therefore Mads won the title instead of Andreas.

Another question for the experts - did Andreas take part in Rally Trondelag in 2006 as a co-driver in a Subaru? I don't remember it but in my searching stumbled across a mention of Tor Larsen being co-driven by AM at this rally...

Yes he did not start in Rally Hedemarken 2009 but did a press conference after the accident in Larvik. He did co drive in Rally Trøndelag 06 in a white N9 or 10 and got his first roll hehe.

I think he might have done a few outings as a co-driver to get experience of notes etc. This was back when he was even doing things like circuit racing to hone his tarmac skills.

I am sorry to say my file on Andreas didn't survive the problems with my PC. I'm pretty gutted I lost quite a few things. I shouldn't have opened my mouth until I knew it was all still ok. So I apologise for that PS29.

2008 season isn't complete as I stopped taking results around that time. Obviously I don't have any of his stuff in the '02 car. I know Andreas also did a couple of early rallies in a Group N Impreza. It should be possible to find the dates for the rallies to get them in order. Back in the day his website used to be great at pictures, results and updates. It's a shame there isn't an archive.

Andreas was co-driving his father Steinar in Rally Stavanger in april 2006 in their historic Porsche 911 RS. They ended 27th overall.

He drove his Subaru Impreza N11 (N4) in a rally in Wales 2006 (Old Ranges Rally). He ended second overall.

He has also been co-driving his physical trainer Roy Snellingen in som rallies in Norway in the beginning of his career. I dont remember when or in which events.

Some pictues here, he has number 76:
http://www.racefoto.no/2007/07sig.shtml

-In South Swedish 2009 he won the NEZ-class in his SubaruN14-cup. He was not allowed to drive in the SM-class but if I remember correctly he was just 2 or 3 seconds behind PG Andersson if you should compare their stagetimes.

- In KMK Trofen 2009 he also drove and won the NEZ-class in the N14-Cup. Totaltime would give him a second place overall, 4.6 seconds behind PG Andersson.
