What would you have if you could have any 4 rally cars.

I would have, Subaru Impreza WRC (1997-2000), Audi Quattro Sport E2, Peugot 205 Group B, and an F2 car, Probably a Vauxhall Astra.

And I would have an Escort Mark 2 from Viking Motorsport (built by John O'Connor) an Audi Qauttro Sport S1,(the winged wonder!) a Subaru S10 wrc, and probably the Xsara that Petter used at the Solberg Extreme show, with the engine maps that it had last weekend.

For those of us who bothers with (small but important) details. The Celica ST185 is not named GT4. It`s correct name is Celica Turbo 4WD. The two others, ST165 and ST205 are GT4`s. I see even Daniel is wrong on this....
My list:
1. Toyota Corolla WRC (the ultimate boy-racer among WRC`s)
2. Skoda Fabia WRC (just fabulous)
3. Lada Samara 1300 (ugliest and slowest car I ever sat in, but great fun!!)
4. Ford Escort Cosworth (really loud)
My choice is among cars I`ve sat in and codriven during 30 years of rallying. I wouldn`t mind a couple of the Group B-cars or a Lancia Stratos if I had picked among those.

It actually seems that we are both right. Consulting the 1993 FIA "Yellow Book", the car is listed with two different names. Homologation no. A/N 5451, Toyota Celica Turbo 4WD/Toyota Celica 2000 GT-Four RC (ST185).
The reason for listing the car with two names could be that identical models produced in Australia (and possibly also USA?) are homologated with their "domestic" names. The cars produced in Japan - which are also the cars marketed and sold in Europe - is called Celica Turbo 4WD (dull name btw.) The factory Gr. A rally cars, built and numbered by TTE, should then be Turbo 4WD`s.

It really is a question of minor details, I admit that, but interesting nonetheless. I have rallied all three Celicas + the Corolla WRC during my career, and they have one thing in common. They are all built like tanks, IMO a great asset when it comes to rally cars.

What is evo WRC, what escort WRC??

Think the Evo Wrc might be the Lancer...
The Escort WRC I'd love would have to be the car driven by Juha Kankkunen on the RAC 98 and by Petter Solberg in Sweden 99, ended uo here in Ireland in full WRC spec with Frank Meagher. Ultimate Escort WRC. One of Patrick Snijers cars would be nice though too ;)

Spoilt for choice, it really does depend on the period so I look back at the cars that did the longer rallies over a variety of conditions and ran during the hours of darkness

Mk1 Escort Twin Cam
Mk 2 Escort RS1800 Gp4
Datsun 160J
Audi Quattro
