Ok, how many people remember when Mark Webber first joined Williams. Just before the Australian GP the news was that Webber had broken a Rib, and it wasn't until he finaly had a good result before he claimed he was healed of said injury.
Anyway, while it is only a bruis this time, Webber seems to have hurt himself while testing with his new team:

New Red Bull Racing driver Mark Webber is still not feeling comfortable inside the new Adrian Newey-designed RB3. The Australian was bruised on his first outings with the car
We're trying to get me comfortable. The car is pretty tight in places," added the 61, 165-pound driver

Two totally different situations
Having an injury and having to race with it is one thing, and if the injury was really holding him back or was just an excuse we will probably never know
Injuries cost by the way he is seating in the cockpit is another thing, if he is not comfortable in the cockpit and the way he is seating is causing him pain its understandable that he wont be able to perform his best.

How tall is Webber?
For a guy of his height it doesnt surprise me one bit that it's a difficult job making an F1 car comfortable for him.

If Webber feels uncomfortable in the car, imagine Wurz! He΄s even taller.
And for extreme uncomfortability remember Mansell΄s last "thing" with McLaren :D

He didn't say the cockpit is to short for him! It is too tight!
The solution is "A DIET"!

I suspect you'd like to see Villeneuve driving in a top team. Why Red Bull then? :D

If you're tall, you're usually a bit wide as well, especially if you have training regime of an F1 driver. :)

How can his height be an issue? F1 cars don't have roofs :)

Tall drivers heads can restrict flow of air into the airbox, so need to sit lower in the car.....

Newey is not someone to provide a spacious cockpit for his drivers. Just look at his early designs for Leyton House and Williams.

Just because they don't have roofs it doesn't mean the driver's head can be sticking out of the cockpit
There are 2 roll structures one behind the driver and one in front of the steering wheel, they are there to prevent injury if the car is upside down.
The driver's helmet must be at all times at least 70mm below a line drawn between the highest points of the two roll structures.

Not necessarily. It can also mean that body is taller. They pretty much lie in that car and if your body is high then you have to bend forward a bit and it can get a bit uncomfortable after a while. :s
