What would happen if there was now "IRL" or "Indy car series"? If there was a schedule of race tracks that would allow the fastest 33 open wheel cars to race. There would be no points battle, no "good points day", winning is the only thing that matters. This would promote inovation and speed and would definately boost the boring races that seem like nobody wants to win aslong as they finish in a good points paying position. Just a topic to encourage discussion on the relatively boring indycar board. Lets start this thing back up!!!!

It wouldn't work. The reason we have series is because the points fund and money paid over a season helps fund teams. Furthermore, if there is no series direction, it means every track would be on the hook for their own promotion, and purses and the like. I see where you are going, but I just don't see it happening. You would end up with teams barnstorming here and there. If that was a valid business model, it would exist already. There is a reason all racing for the most part has points and the like....
