All of this music sucks.

I thought good rock music ended in 1982. Hell some may argue that rock died before then.

Even the hip-hop/rap on that list are crap! Bone-Thugs-in-Harmony anyone?

Glad to see the Delgados made the list, didn't think many people knew of them. That said, its a very indie/rock orientated list which is what should be expected from the NME, not a list of the best 50 albums of the last decade overall.

this has dafanantly been the best decade for music for music, but i dont think this list really shows that,

theres alot of really good artists that are not on this list such as: Avril Lavigne, Paramore, The Veronicas, Linkin Park, Nickelback, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, and more....

At least the Man in Black made the list.

He did a cover for NIN song "Hurt" and it was quite moving. May he RIP.

Its also one of those rare events, a cover hat is distinctly better than the original (and I like NIN but not much of a Cash fan).

Personally, I think that list sucks big time and, Absolution and Radiohead aside, lakcs anything remotely adventerous.

Other than Johnny Cash, I wouldn't touch any of that list with a 15 foot barge pole. I guess I am showing my age, but Most of the new acts just don't do a thing for me...

I was born in 1974, but music wise I am still pretty much the 1970s man. I only recognize Johnny Cash, Primal Scream and Muse from this list. That said, I don't want to badmouth new music. Each generation has its own tastes. I am sure a lot of these band are truly great. It is just that I don't quite understand their music, but I'm not gonna cast the stone.

It is not a great list. The Strokes are bland and dull, typical American dross.

No Killers on the list - Americans who CAN make music! Just shows the list is a pile of crap.

Happy with The Streets getting the recognition in there, although I would put A Grand Don't Come for Free at Number 1.

Yeah, what impresses me the most about Britney and Avril lavigne are their undoubted vocal talents, possibly the greatest female voices ever...

I have 5 of those albums, one of which I really don't like and another which I barely listen to. Absolution, In Rainbows and Arctic MOnkeys are good choices though (IMO).

Bezza - The Killers made a song and then pretty much used the same sound in all their others. Mind you they still deserve a place next to some of that other tripe in the list.

I think that I'd struggle to name a top 50 but in no particular order my top 10 would be:

Muse - Absolution
Arctic Monkeys - Whatever......
Buck 65 - Talkin' Honky Blues
Orchestra Baobab - Specialist In All Styles
Half Man Half Biscuit - Achtung Bono
Amadou & Mariam - Dimanche A Bamako
Sigur Ros - Takk
Coldplay - X&Y
Daft Punk - Alive 2007
Flight of the Conchords - FotC

Based on albums I own and trying to actually give some idea of the different music of the decade rather than just listing chart s***e like NME have.

I'm glad to see both Arcade Fire (Neon Bible) and Vampire Weekend on the list, both excellent albums.
Amy Winehouse's Back to Black is an overrated album.
Little known Hey Rosetta! should be on the list, but that's just my opinion.
Musical tastes can be very personal so I'm sure we could all come up with our own lists.

As for Avril Lavigne... not really my cup of tea, but she is far under-rated musician. She does compose her own music, write her own lyrics and does not lip-sync, which can't be said for many others :mark:

I personally think that Amy Winehouse is just overrated full stop.

Avril isn't my cup of tea but it the sort of stuff you can listen to at a push whereas Britney etc make me switch stations immediately.

I only have #11 At The Drive In, the problem is everyone has different tastes in music to judge.

Thursday's "War All The Time" is on of my favorites.

but how is Tool's "Lateralus" not on the list, thats one of the greatest CD's

no Pink Floyd neither, what a messed up list The Wall, The Final Cut, or Dark Side of the Moon should be on that list

harvick#1

guess I should read the title first before, but Floyd is out, but how Tool's Lateralus is not on there is still absurd

As this list is made by NME we must remember what NME is.........a magazine that thinks the Arctic Monkeys and Pete Doherty are talented.

I rest my case.

The only female singer worth her weight in gold is Alicia Keys.
I don't like pop, but I saw her perform on TV last night. Stunning!

Apart from Primal Scream which I totally agree with, typical NME bland list blatantly raided from past end of year lists.

Only surprise was Sufjan Stevens and no Eminem.

Without the Strokes Indie music would not be as big as it is today, They are in my opinion trend setters

On a different note
I watched Julian Casablancas perform his solo album last Monday and wow it blew the crowd away even before the show he tried all the instruments ,drums ,key boards everything and was telling the stage managers exactly how he wants each instrument tuned ,from interviews Ive read he wrote almost every bit of Is This It, as a musician I think he can be mentioned under the same breath as Jack White .

sorry, can't contribute anything, at least Radiohead is still there in the list. just feel today's music is not much in my taste, find good only a few of them, music of 90's and playing around with contemporary playmate is far interesting...

Otherwise - a mixed bag! *laughs*
