ok, another bit of 'prediciting what might happen in the future' fun. this is simple, just predict the world champion drivers in the next few years until lets say 2015.

OK, My bet:

2010. Alonso
2011. Vettel
2012. Hamilton
2013. Massa
2014. Hamilton
2015. Vettel

thats my guess, would be interesting to see in retrospect several years down the line.......... (and i reckon 2015 is a year too early for the Hulk)

having posted that, what i would actually LIKE would be:

2010. Hamilton
2011. Vettel
2012. Hamilton
2013. Webber
2014. Hulkenburg
2015. Massa

I'd hate to see this, but it's want I think will happen:

2010. Hamilton
2011. Hamilton
2012. Hamilton
2013. Alonso
2014. Hamilton
2015. Hamilton

2013. Webber
2014. Hulkenburg
2015. Massa

I know you said it's what you'd like to see, but if this happens I will give you a trillion pounds! Webber will be too old, Nico too young and Massa a bit past it.

I'd like it to be:

2010: Heidfeld
2011: Heidfeld
2012: Heidfeld
2013: pettersolberg29
2014: Heidfeld
2015: Jeremy Clarkson

:D pettersolberg29 will be retired by then, you mark my words!

it started as a who do i think, but the would like to see is a side note. reality has nothing to do with it... :D

Retired in 4 years time? I'll be at my peak! ;)

Anyway, I do find it hard to believe that anyone but Lewis will win the WDC if he has a competitive car. He may not be consistent but he wins so many that I can't see past him - especially if he gets a more competitive teammate that pushes him a bit harder.

2010: Alonso

2012: Massa

2015: Vettel

And what I would like is:

2010: Button

2014: Vettel
2015: Alonso

Five years is too much IMO, too difficult to predict, but I too fear that Lewis will dominate. I don't trust the current Ferrari team and I am not sure that long term Brawn and RBR can match the McLaren. So it is likely that Lewis will win, but as we saw this year, F1 is very unpredictable and you can never know what will happen.

2010: Vettel (RBR-Renault) - Newey announces a shock departure at the end of the season, Vettel starts seeking for new options for 2012.

2011: Hamilton (McLaren-Mercedes) - stunningly MB decided to stop supplying engines for McLaren after 2011 - and Hammy starts looking for a new team for 2013.

2012: Hülkenberg (MercedesF1 Team) - former Brawn team has reached the top level again with their new lead driver.

2013: Hamilton (MercedesF1 Team) - amazingly close battle between The Hulk and new driver in the team - Hamilton. Despite an exciting battle, the pairing has a healthy working relationship.

2014: Bianchi (Ferrari) - Bianchi pips Alonso to the title after Ferrari has finally reached the top again after a change in management a couple of years before (Domenicali, etc, gone). Alonso leaves Ferrari with immediate effect, claiming that Nicholas Todt's (new team principal at Ferrari!) protege gets superior equipment.

2015: Kubica (Lotus) - after many years in midfield, Kubica does what Button/Häkkinen have done before him - finally reaching the heights after a radical shake-up in rules, which Lotus has surprisingly managed to adapt to better than anyone else, having gathered together a talented team of engineers, from who a new legend in the category of Byrne/Newey will arise.

I forgot to add that Mercedes pulls out of F1 after 2013 after a great 1-2 in WDC. :D

Btw, I have read some comments above like this or that year would be too "early" for a youngster ( like Hülkenberg). Well, if modern F1 has proven anything, there is nothing too early. Hamilton champion in his second season, Vettel a remote title contender and second in WDC in his second full season, etc. Those talented newcomers need just nothing more than a very competitive car and they will shine pretty much straightaway.

I swear off forecasting - I couldn't possible come up with a scenario that would be that much fun.

Wild A$$ Guessing (of course)

2010. Vettel
2011. Hamilton
2012. Hamilton
2013. Hulkenburg
2014. Rossberg
2015. Vettel

Now that's all assuming that Danica Patrick doesn't switch to F1 after she's won the Indy 500, Daytona 500 and the IRL and NASCAR championships in the same year in 2011. If The Danica comes over, then all bets are off!

My head wouldn't have come off, but I wouldn't have taken it that seriously either.

My money was on Hamilton, Massa or Heidfeld (that worked well didn't it?)
